Re: questions on power steering, bed repair & radiator suppo

Depends what your time is worth to you. You can repair/weld the bed, but the corner may take some more skillz than some of us have depending on the damage. Only a few bolts and 3 wires are needed to just swap your bed for a good one. Keep an eye out and you will probably find one. Some trucks get de...

Extang model 8835. I called them and they knocked another $30 off and still offered free shipping. I must not live too far from them, I got it in 2 days. Made my Saturday.

Full Tilt toneau cover

Started driving my truck around a little on the weekends and got the bug to do something to it since its been a while. After searching here and elsewhere, I decided to get a bed cover. Was able to pick this one up without breaking the bank. Looks better than I hoped and makes my long bed look more s...

Re: questions on power steering, bed repair & radiator suppo

m m For power steering, I would suggest cruising craigslist. Buy a late 70's truck for $500-800 (running is even better) take the steering column, power steering gear box, disc brake setup from the front, power brake bracket and booster/master. Sell the sheet metal and engine/trans to get your money...

Re: Send in the Clones!

I'm building a 66 ranger restomod. Started life as a regular custom cab truck with a straight 6 300 and 3 on the tree. Cruising these sites you see purists who must have everything the way Ford had it coming off the line, all the way to people air bagging and slamming these things. I'm somewhere in ...

Re: Emergency brake

You can remove it all and opt for a brick on a rope I would suggest you fix whatever is not working with the current braking system and keep it in case you drive out of town and park on a hill or decide to launch a boat at the lake. If you don't think you can fix what you have, look to the aftermark...

Re: What have you done to your slick today??

Sunday morning I got my pilot holes drilled and some of the 3/4 inch holes drilled in my shop floor to finish installing my new 4 post lift. Then I took my 66 out and drove it. Finally broke 300 miles! Only took me 3 years. Now that she is a high mileage truck I'll have to baby her, LOL. Kickdown is...

Re: Lewis (1964WVFORD) found the F100 XL on craigs list...

That shifter mount is just ugly and I'm not a huge fan of the fuel cell mounted like that. Just me but I might prefer power brakes on a 50K car or truck. The rest of it looks pretty good. Build a fun truck and sell it with 100 miles on it Is this a professional restoration shop flipping trucks week ...

Couldn't you get a 90 degree pipe and screw it into the sender and mount it to the side? If your worried about it.

Re: 90's aluminum rims on a slick?

92 Ford E150 van wheels. Clear coat was pealing and looked pretty bad. Hmm what to do.... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y55/haus_von_stein/truckwheels001.jpg Had them blasted and powder coated gun metal grey. I needed these van wheels for the offset since I'm sitting on a 79 frame. I'm still only...

Re: To powder coat or not to powder coat... That is the ques

I like the clean look of powder coating. I have a set of 1992 van wheels that I found at a junk yard. The clear coat was cracking so I just had them media blasted and powder coated gun metal grey. This is fresh on my mind because I just picked up another 1966 with some cragers. One has a little rust...

I don't know why a later model power steering box would not work. Of course our gear boxes mount on the opposite side, but I'm not sure why you could not bring it over to the opposite side (same position) and weld a U shaped frame around the steering box and weld or bolt it to your frame. You could ...

Thank you Banjo! My 66 switch is not in the best shape so I may switch in the bronco one at a later time. I used the same proportioning valve on my truck but just pulled off the connector because I thought it ran the brake light and I had something else rigged up for that. Great info.

I picked up a set of 92 aluminum van wheels that also had clear coat issues. Had them blasted then powder coated gun metal grey. Turned out pretty good. Only issue was they came with 3 center caps. Took me over a year to track down some extras. Now I have to send them to be powder coated to match.
