Re: Ryanjay11's 65 F100 build
It's been nearly a year since my last post. Life got in the way of working on the truck, but I have put 2500 miles on it so far. I was able to spend some time over Independence day weekend and knocked out the following. Switched from track bar to panhard bar Installed gas tank behind rear axle with ...

Re: Ryanjay11's 65 F100 build
I decided to procrastinate just a bit more. I have been to 3 car shows in the past 2 weeks and have another one in a couple of weeks to go to. I didn't want to miss any, so I'm going to wait just a bit longer to install the fuel injection, mustang tank, rear bumper fill, replace track bar with panha...

http://www.slick60s.com/gallery/image.php?album_id=921&image_id=12710 The proper amount of horsepower for any application is always more. I picked up a Edelbrock single plane Torker II intake to replace my Weigand Stealth dual plane. This will work better with the Fuel Injection setup I'm insta...

Re: Ryanjay11's 65 F100 build
Just to let you know, your truck, and the quality of detail you put into your truck, really got my attention. Not just because BLUE is my favorite color, but the 61-66 body style has been my preference for nearly 40 years. I learned years ago (watching other people) that a man can have all the mone...

Re: Ryanjay11's 65 F100 build
Very cool build, I just read through your entire thread. I have a question about the rear end kit. When you first mentioned the rear crossmember not being good from TCI, I expected it to be the upper mounting point for the coil overs. But then I see where they are now mounted. What is the need for ...

Re: Ryanjay11's 65 F100 build
I suppose everyone has their own idea of what should and shouldn't be done with these old vehicles. I pretty much tore mine down and completely rebuilt it using non-original parts. The 429 was out of a Lincoln, transmission out of a F-250, the front suspension was out of a Crown Vic, the rear end is...

Re: Ryanjay11's 65 F100 build
I saw the other day the basic FiTech (600hp) for $795 wholesale price so they are coming down slowly. Tell me about this wholesale price.... I might do it sooner than later. I'm looking at this https://www.summitracing.com/parts/fif-30002 and this https://www.lsxceleration.com/fitech-efi-fuel-tank-...

Re: Ryanjay11's 65 F100 build
Thanks for all the positive comments! I've put about 600 miles on the truck since the rebuild. There are still a bunch of small things that I need to finish, but it's been a lot of fun to drive. The amount of power for the weight of the truck is just ridiculous, and it drives, stops and handles like...

Re: '65 F100 SWB - yes another Crown Vic swap
I'm glad to see another truck that is going to end up back on the road. I'll be following your build. Thank you, the first of many questions I'm sure I'll have since you have a '65 is..... back up lights, does your truck have them?, if you have or get a chance could you post a picture of your tail ...

Re: Ryanjay11's 65 F100 build
Just read this thread from the beginning.... You've done a great job! Randall Thanks! I just got back from an awesome Elk hunting trip in Colorado. When we were driving through Denver, I saw this guy going for a ride with his dog. Anyone know him from the forum? http://www.slick60s.com/gallery/imag...

Re: '65 F100 SWB - yes another Crown Vic swap
My point in telling you this story I think you get right off the bat, unless you build a truck like Ryan has that reuses the original frame but is updated to modern suspension, brakes, and steering along with the power plant and transmission your IMHO opinion just cutting corners ( I mean no offens...

Re: Ryanjay11's 65 F100 build
I figured out this weekend that the vacuum secondaries weren't even kicking in. I put in a lighter spring and now it feels like I have a nitrous shot when I mash the pedal. It's pretty impressive. I also did some tweaking to the timing. I put limiters on the mechanical advance and got the total timi...

Re: Ryanjay11's 65 F100 build
You find out what works and what doesn't pretty quick as soon as you put some miles on. I've put about 50 miles on it so far. We had some awesome weather today, so I drove it to work and got out on the highway to see how it did at higher speeds. Not surprising, but it is really fast. I was surprised...

Re: 67-72 Taillights in 65-66 Bezels?
I've been running them in mine for the past 18 years, but I can't post a photo because of some blood-sucking photo demons wanting to get rich..... :x All of the photos I post on this forum are hosted by this website. It’s a bit of a pain to go back and upload all of your old images, but the process...

Re: Ryanjay11's 65 F100 build
Quick question, Did you replace the CV emergency brake cables? how did you get it hooked up to the original brake bell? Yes. It's a work in progress, that I'm going to finish tomorrow. The Crown Vic cables that I bought are completely different lengths. The longer one had a bracket with a spring on...

Re: Ryanjay11's 65 F100 build
I've been getting a few small things knocked out tonight. Cowl lacing, hood bumpers, and headlights.
They have to be at least 10x brighter than the old ones. If you are on the fence about switching to LEDs, do it.
