Re: Toploader information.

...Can the input and output shafts be changed out?... Changing the input shaft from a small block (long and small diameter) to a big block (short and large diameter)also requires a bearing retainer swap. This retainer includes the shaft that the throwout bearing rides on. The output shaft can be sw...

It will affect caster NEGATIVELY. It will make the caster go in a negative direction, which is bad.

Time for a new switch. There is voltage on that bare wire bouncing around against grounded metal.

Re: 352 intermittent stumbling and stalling

These old stock engines run fine on 87 octane gas. They only need the higher octane if you have rebuilt the engine with a higher compression ratio. 91 octane gas is not a "treat" like steak is a treat when you're used to hamburgers. If the engine knocks or pings under hard acceleration in ...

From 1986 to 1992 I owned an orange R code 1969 Mercury Cyclone. It had a white bench seat interior.

Re: What does everyone's name mean?

When I was born (in 1957) my grandfather had a 56 F-100 pickup with a two-way radio and an antenna mounted on a tool box at the front of the bed. When I started talking I called that antenna a "Didgey Switch" (almost rhymes with itchy). From that day on the family called the truck the &quo...

Re: Cast iron four barrel intake

That "S" intake is the 390GT intake, a different animal compared to all the other FE 4V intakes, except for the 428 CJ intake. If you just want a 4 barrel carb, a $50 cast iron intake is not a bad start. They are more fun to drive than a 2V carb with a little more punch when the secondarie...

Re: Vent window help

The rubber under the bottom near the divider is a little thick. Try putting some Armor All on the rubber so the window will slide over it. Leave it closed for a while (over the winter) to compress the rubber.

Re: My 65 was bleeding all over the ground

You will have to pull the engine to install the C6. There is a crossmember in the way. It is riveted on the 65/66 chassis and bolted in from 67-79. The FMX/Cruie-O-Matic in 65/66 has a removable bellhousing and can be removed with the crossmember in the way. The crossmember MUST stay in the chassis,...

Re: Disc brakes for Twin-I-Beam trucks

I finally rolled 66KIXX into the work area. I've decided to part out my 78 F-150 that I've put nearly 300,000 miles on. First order of business was removing the tie-rod assembly because 66KIXX needs some front end work right now before I do the disc brake swap. As it turns out I needed both twin I-b...

Re: Stock steel truck wheels

Look at the backside of the rim. If the diameter has an angled taper from the small diameter to the larger diameter you will probably have disc brake caliper clearance problems. If the backside has a stepped change from the small diameter to the large diameter this wheel will fit disc brakes. All wh...

Re: 67 tailgate, really?

Does this tailgate look like it was swapped? I bought a 66 Custom Cab over 15 years ago with the "wrong" tailgate. If it was swapped, it was swapped when the truck was new. I think this was also a 66 Custom Cab tailgate.

67 tailgate, really?

Is the 67 tailgate really a 67 part? It shows up on so many 66s I believe it was available near the end of production. Why does this 66 on ebay have the 67 tailgate? Build date is Dec 1965.

Re: The great tailgate mystery SOLVED!

Well, fudge. It's been so long since I've seen the 64-66 tailgate. And I didn't feel like going out in the cold with a flashlight to look at the "wrong" tailgate on my '66. The fuzzy video looked like the rib on the top and around the letters, but now that I compare these two side by side,...

I haven't been in here in a while. Where does that "welcome" flag come from? Anyway, welcome from Tennessee! I would consider a custom utility bed of some sort. It would go along with the heavy 6-lug wheels. You could hide a cooler and grill in it if you think about it. Party wagon!! (Ever...

Re: 302 OR 352??

If you swap in the 352, you'll need a bellhousing to go with it, the bellhousing on the 302 won't work. I'm guessing you are talking about keeping the 3-speed? The input shaft might not work on the 352. I know the car 4-speeds have different length input shafts for big- and small blocks. If you're g...

I thought I solved the great tailgate mystery, nevermind...

This video was shot in 1965. At :40 is a nice clear view of a 1965 F-100 with a "1967" tailgate. It has to be a Custom Cab tailgate. Oh, enjoy the rest of the video.

Is this really a Ranger console? It has round cutouts for a transmission tunnel on the front and rear. A Falcon/Comet console was used in the Rangers and the side profile is a little different on this console. Can anybody with a real Ranger verify the existence or non existence of the round cutouts?...
