So, does the Redhead box you bought fit your 65? The website indicates it's for 70-79 F-series.
I'd like to have the faster steering ratio...It's a great idea!

Re: I think the 460 will have to go
That's a bummer! I haven't gone back to read what you may have posted about your balance woes with the 460, but, swapping out the whole engine and trans a quite a bit of work! If you're going to all that trouble, why not just try another balancer and flexplate combo? That's relatively cheap, and you...

I stripped of all items that could be unbolted or removed. I left in the riveted pieces, and took the frame and had someone sandblast it. Bring all I-beams, bare rear housing, etc., as it will be cheaper to have it all done at once. I think I paid $275 for all the sandblasting. I could not have done...

I personally like the Alcoa wheels that came on the mid-90's F250s (mostly seen on Powerstroke Diesels). I got my Alcoas for $160 from a u-pick wrecking yard. It is a light and strong aluminum wheel. Still sold new, too. You may already know this, but the 8-lug bolt pattern was standard to all 3/4 t...

It could be made to work, as long as it fits. I know 4.6 and 5.4L engines' trannys have a longer input shaft, and maybe a different bellhousing pattern? Not sure about the 4.2L. I would check case fitment first. There is no real optimum AOD for a 351W, but I understand the easiest to swap is one beh...

I think if you want a 5 speed manual, the M5R2 (aka M5OD) from a small block or a 300 I6 would be a good choice. Make sure it has low miles, however, as they are expensive to rebuild. The thing to watch for is the shift fork shaft seals at the top of the tranny are prone to leak. Most people re-seal...

I couldn't get 66 Ford Truck Marlin Blue in a single stage paint. I did find some Pepsi Blue, and we are using some tint to get it pretty close. Just bought my paint two days ago for the F250 CC. Pretty excited to see how it will look. We may start jamming the cab this week. Pics to be posted later....

What tranny are you using, Cosmo? If it is the original, I would recommend that you install the trans on the rear mount, and reference your perch holes based on that to determine where the perch holes line up, and where you need to drill. I'm doing a 97 5.8L EFI with an E4OD in my 66, so I'm not muc...

I thought M referred to modified, because the Cleveland block was modified with a larger crank/rod journals (to 429/460 size, I think), and the deck height was increased. It also has the same bellhousing, distributor and timing chain as the 385 series. Add crappy large chamber heads and call it &quo...

Brian, If you plan to do some mods to the 351W, consider a roller-cam block model, they start with F4TZ on the oil pan rail near the starter motor. They are usually in 94-97 F-series and Broncos. A lot of people think it is only the the Lightnings, but I've found them many times. You can then run a ...
