Re: 1966 brake issues
I am not a mechanic as the guys on this forum, and those who attended last slickstock, can attest. But I post this because of my recent 66 brake issue. I had the same issue with the brakes having almost no pedal and then, bam, locking up. After noodling every conceivable issue and fix, it turned out...

Re: 65 Slick at Barrett Jackson, Reno
That paint scheme is hideous. I love teal and white, but agree with Chris that the original two tone scheme would have been much better.

Re: 100 lb box from Speedway!
I know this post is kinda old, but what is the difference between a 1" bore and a 1 1/8 " bore? If you're gonna say 1/8 " save the comedy! I am asking because I am upgrading to a chromed aluminum master cylinder and I have to choose between 1 or 1 1/8. I measured mine and it looks lik...

Re: Just An Introduction... And A Few Pics Of RUBY
Hey, another Slick Fan from Arkansas. I have a red '66 that I've had since '86. Wasn't in the family for its first 20 years, but will be forever (or until I die and the kids decide to sell it because they can't figure out how to drive non fuel injected car).

Re: Greybeard's headliners
Would an oil pressue and other guages fit up in the console? I thought about two guages and putting a cool LED dome light on the bottom of it.

Re: Greybeard's headliners
Uncle Skip, sell me your rod door headliner and you can buy the glass one. I'd buy the fiberglass one if it didnt have the radio console. I love it otherwise and would install it without covering it. Saw it at SS V and loved it (except for the console).

Re: What have you done to your slick today??
Last weekend I installed new chrome sun visor brackets and new sunvisors from LMC truck. Surprisingly good quality considering they are made in Tiawan. Yesterday, I drove it to a local car show. Then I drove it on the freeway for the first time in 12 years. First time at sustained highway speeds sin...

Re: Classic Trucks Magazine
Congratulations, Kevin. The truck certainly is magazine worthy. I agree with Grump. My first thought was the article didn't do the truck justice. Hardly any mention of the the trick hood tilt kit. No explanation of the difficulty in making the gas filler behind the tail light, even though there was ...

Re: What have you done to your slick today??
Bought an oiled cotton air filter from Jegs. Spectre brand 17.99. Lots cheaper than K&N. Topped it off with a new wing nut that looks like the inside spokes of an old school wooden steering wheel. Also bought a new Craftsman double box end wrench 3/8 and 7/16 to use as my battery hold down. At j...

Re: What have you done to your slick today??
Yesterday, I washed it (including under the hood and in the bad. Does your wife roll her eyes when you do that?) Adjusted the kickdown cable (Lokar aftermarket). Straightened my new steering wheel (so it is in the right position when you are going straight). Put the arm rests back on. AND DROVE IT 7...

Need suggestions on indoor car covers
My slick is finally done and now back in our home garage. I want to protect the paint, mostly from garage dings from the kids and wife. I also want a cover that won't rub the paint or trap moisture. I've searched the net and there are indoor covers for $250 and some for $40. Who has experience with ...

Re: need help on temp guage sending unit on 390
Ok here's the proof I am not a mechanic but I'm smart enough to know it. In just a few posts I had three guys send me pictures and tell me what I needed to know. Thanks. My mechanic buddy just drilled and tapped my existing water neck to install the temp sending unit. Now we discovered the gauge sti...

Re: need help on temp guage sending unit on 390
Thanks guys for the quick responses. I'll look again, but I think my intake only has one bung and my water neck coming out of it only has one outlet (unlike the one in Iceman's picture). Does somebody have a water neck with two outlets like the one in Iceman's picture? Or do they make a thermostat h...

need help on temp guage sending unit on 390
Let's start with the confession I am not a mechanic, as anyone who attended Slickstock and tried to help me with my brake issue can attest. Please don't berate me for asking a stupid question. I have a 390 in my 66. I had an Edlebrock intake put on it. I had my truck re-wired by a Chebby mechanic du...

Windsheild wiper motor question
Years ago I bought the aftermarket 2 speed wiper kit from DC. In the redo of my 66, I managed to forget how the wires from the wiper motor connect to the switch. Called tech support at DC to ask for the diagram because it's just 4 wires with female ends (no plug). They gave me the order, but the wir...
