Pretty sure the portion of the CV floorpan he used didn't have any body mounting points left after it was trimmed to fit the cab.

Great work! Really appreciate the pics!

Re: 63 Short Wrong-Full Crown Vic Swap

So it appears the CV firewall sits a bit further back than the truck's original firewall location. Is that true? How far back is it?

Thanks for all the detail!

Re: 61 f100 short bed uni

The track-width seems to fit under the truck well. I had heard the rear of the '03 and up CV may be too wide for the Uni. Apparently not. Nice work!

Re: 61 f100 short bed uni

Love it. Looks a lot like what I'm doing...maybe this is the "new thing" lol Heck, seems we are all doing it. I've subscribed to the threads from both of you guys - hoping to learn a lot. I won't be starting til fall, but I brought my '04 Marauder home this week. 8) Take lots of pics, guy...

Re: Finally, a proper donor for my Uni project!

Be aware, if you're not already, that the CV rear axle is wider than the front. An option that gives you the 4.5 bolt pattern in a wider stance to match the CV front is a 9" from a 70-73 (I believe those years are correct) F100 (Not F150) and yes they are available. I am aware and am mulling o...

Don't know if I missed it, but are you planning to use the CV firewall and floor?
Thanks,

Re: Finally, a proper donor for my Uni project!

cool. i feel sorry for that poor marauder though. they didn't make many. Yeah, I felt sorry for it too. It took a pretty hard lick in the passengers side doors. It was totalled by the insurance company and was likely headed to the dismantler. I feel like I rescued it and will give it new life (a be...

Finally, a proper donor for my Uni project!

Long time lurker, rare poster here. I found this truck 4yrs ago. Committed the sin of starting a project with no real plan. Separated the body from the frame. Stripped, blasted and painted the frame. Re-built the 9" rearend adding a trutrac. http://canyonrider.smugmug.com/Trucks/Ford-UniBody/i-...

what kit are you using for the Rear disc? and what wheel pattern? I'm looking at these two (plus another from Speedway Motors in NE) : http://www.currieenterprises.com/cestore/ProductsRE.aspx?id=1876 http://www.performanceonline.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=18518&cat=384&page=1 ...

Thanks Hawkrod. That makes sense. I haven't ordered my rear disc kit yet - I'll ask about the spacer.

Great forum with quick knowledgable response! I'm sure I'll have more questions as I install the Dakota IFS. :D

Where is the backing plate for the brakes? Yeah, I thought that too, but shouldn't the bearing slide all the way in for full support? I don't remember when I took it apart but I'm pretty sure the bearing was completely inside the housing. Besides - I'm not putting backing plates back on, I'm instal...

Rearend/Axle question - 1st post

Hey ya'll. This is my first post, so be gentle. I have 61 & 63 Unibodys and am restoring the 61. Here is the chassis right after seperating the body. http://canyonrider.smugmug.com/photos/534261194_qEpM6-M.jpg I literally dragged the truck from behind an old tabacco barn. Anyway, I now have the ...
