Greg, the pic of the red truck I posted is actually from USbody's website. I want to do it in steel just for strength and to avoid extra costs. Plus I just had an offer to powdercoat my entire cab--so if I did fiber front I'd be trying to match powdercoating to paint and that just doesn't sound fun ...

Tilt cab?
Just because I'm not about going the 'easy' route with things.. and since I will be doing essentially a frame-off build on the '63. What do you folks think about--a tilt cab. Not the entire cab, just the front fenders and hood and grille. Attached at the firewall, and all joined together like a semi...

Hey on the floorboards I saw a really sweet trick for making your own. It was on Back From The Dead . I highly recommend that video to any car/truck nuts. The basic proceedure was to use metal rods and make a 'frame' along all of the edges, and any 3-dimensional parts. Such as the transmission. Then...

My take on it is.. the end result is a decent looking functional truck. I'd hook up the tank in the back, take the in-cab tank out and make it into storage. I really dislike when one takes a x brand blazer frame (which seems more common all the time) and put a ford cab on it and use a bunch of misc ...

so do these F350s have 16 or 17.5 inch wheels? how do you find tires if they are 17.5? Are there are no good options for aftermarket rims on these f350's? 17.5's can be special ordered by most larger tire shops. Don't expect to find them on-the-shelf anywhere. Honestly in my town, for instance, it'...

That is a great looking truck you have. I didn't reply to your pic post cause I was drooling too much.. Have you thought about just installing a power dual MC on it.. My fathers '62 cornbinder has power assist drums and it stops well.. Ask Barnietruck about his f250. I think it has power drum/drum ...

Changing frame to a late model would be alot easier than trying to install twin I's in your truck. I'd rather this truck have 4-wheel drums than to swap frames. Just seems like it would lose some of it's--character. I'm not one of those 'everything has to be authentic' types; nothing wrong with swa...

answer is no, unless you get a twin i f350 front from a 67- 79. dod not say if you had a single wheel or dually truck but there are non split 17.5 wheels made for the single. not that its easy to find 17.5 rubber. international used the 6 hole 1 ton too, so theres another source of wheels. It is a ...

'63 F350 Dually Disc Front?
Hey all, I've dug through the forums and can't find exactly what I'm looking for. I'd like to swap discs onto the front of my '63 F350 Dually. It has the lovely 6-lug hubs and I haven't found any compatible setup to date. I can convert the D70 rear (if I switch to 8-lug axles). So, discs in the fron...

I'd suggest you install a bed similar to the wrecker bed but without the boom; rather install a 5th wheel hookup. Then you could go into the business of delivering RVs across North America! Check it out here: m Only problem with that specific endeavor is the requirement for the truck to be a 2003 o...

This truck originally looks like it had a factory grill guard. Notice the small horseshoes above the turn signals. This was done to run a round bar thru the grill to the frame. I WONDERED WHAT THOSE WERE! --I kept forgetting to ask. I thought that might be it, as it used to be a wrecker, so it'd ma...

Route 66?
'The Mother Road' would be one consideration for those coming from the Southwest. Could follow it all the way to Chicago, then back track 5 hours to Altoona. Else, just follow it most of the way and branch off towards Altoona when you get close. Get your kicks, on Route 66? Seems fitting for a group...

what's that seat out of? looks cool. I was told a T-bird. Don't quote me on that though. It doesn't quite fit perfect, but it's close enough, and once it's reupholstered, ought to be quite nice, and somewhat unique--everybody has put in power seats from chebby pickup's, but this one is true vintage...

ever scratch off a scab and wish you'd left it alone?
Well. Went back out today to get it going again and thought I'd start making 'improvements' because I knew the fuel system wasn't happy.. it'd run but it wouldn't go much above idle and a few other symptoms. I had already changed the carb mounted fuel filter and I knew the fuel was clean and good. S...

Re: Slick Panel
[albumimg]6509[/albumimg] [b][i]How about this one, Greg! Rich drew this and I thought maybe you would like to see it. It could be done as a Slick Cutout in steel if you wanted it. You could cut windows in it yourself the way you might want them, or copy this, draw some windows in it and send it ba...

I want one..
I want one.. only with four doors and a working rear tailgate or barndoor style rear..the two-door looks good but not functional with 3 kids! I have a perfectly good caddy hearse sitting at the house that the roof might work well for a project like this. Turn the hearse into an "El Caddy"....

IT'S ALIVE!
Well got a chance to go tinker today. The good news is.. after an hour or so, I got it running! The bad news is.. the in-cab tank has rust-through which I didn't notice until AFTER I had put fuel in it. I got the truck running by putting a length of fuel line into a gas can. I have two bedside tanks...

Me and my wife and possibly my son are heading up there. Not sure what route to take but we are going to take our time. I was thinking the northern route would be a little cooler temperature-wise, also a little more direct (for me, to the tune of about 400 miles).. but I'm flexible. If we get enoug...

Any southwestern slicks headed up there?
Hey all, Anybody from CO/NM/UT/AZ/CA/NV/etc/etc headed up for SS? I don't know if I could get the F350 ready in time.. I'd definitely have to re-gear that 5.13 rear end just to keep up though.. haha. I'd just rather travel with a couple buddies in case anything goes wrong with anyone. 2-3(or 10) Too...
