Re: Engine to Machine Shop, any guess what FE it is?
Brougher's Machine shop in Pittsburgh quoted me $2,500 for a full stock rebuild. Anything extra was on me. I've added another $2,000 in goodies. I was just there Friday dropping off goodies and when I went in they were working on the heads. Flywheel was surfaced and a new gear ring installed. Block ...

Re: Engine to Machine Shop, any guess what FE it is?
Yes, nothing to identify which FE I have, although the C8 heads would be from the 67-71 range, correct? I don't think 352 was being produced by then. So that could make it a 360 or 390. But the c5* throws me on the block and intake. I'll find out soon enough. When I got the truck it had the 'Powered...

Plan is to pull 390 out and have it rebuilt. Leaning towards a Performer RPM top end.

Re: Dennis Carpenter, LMC, Flashback F100?
Tom at Flashback is my first stop. In hindsight I wish I would have rented a uHaul and drove down at the beginning of the project and bought everything in one stop. His patch panels are the best, he helped me on all the pieces I was missing for my PS conversion. Just a great resource selling the bes...

Re: Toploader information.
The price seems inline. I paid $350 for mine knowing it needed work, then had it rebuilt for $700 + the Hurst Comp+. Make sure you DON'T get one with a Galaxy tail shaft like I did. While it all worked, it required having the Hurst Comp+ linkage customized to work. Hurst only makes the linkage for t...

Re: PS Conversion Question
not yet, still looking for someone who can do the alignment. Don't feel too rushed, as it is tracking pretty straight and doesn't seem to have any issues, but with the PS it also had a DJM drop beams, disc conversion, and new king pins. I think as soon as I replace the oil pan gasket I'll send it ou...

PS Conversion Question
Did the conversion, everything working great. However, I did not swap the tie rods, steering links, etc. I have them from the donor, but my original 65 bolted right to the steering crank and everything seems to be working fine, steers straight, not much slop, by truck standards. Am I missing somethi...

Re: How to deal: seat back to steering wheel
I have a 390FE (Forever Erupting) and a toploader 4 speed out of a galaxie in my truck. Runs great and is a blast to drive, just can't contain fluids. I added the factory Ford PS for this engine. Took a while to find all the parts, some local craigslist finds and Tom (Flashback F100) help me with al...

Re: How to deal: seat back to steering wheel
I'm 6'-6" had to scrap the stock wheel and went with a 15" wood grip Grant wheel and I just finished my PS Conversion with the Ford Ididit tilt column. I fit much better now. If the Grant wheel was dished and not flat it would be even better. The Ididit column was expensive, but worth ever...

Re: Ebay chrome tilt columns... warning
I'll try later this week, just finished up PS conversion last weekend, been too busy to spend time chasing them down. Flaming river doesn't have a ford 100% drop in like IDIDIT.

Thanks for the warning, I'm actually looking for one right now, Tried callining IDIDIT, no answers, Tried emailling them, 3 weeks later, no replies. Guessing with the PS conversion I need the 67-72 column but can't get hold of them to confirm.

If you don't want to use the tar/butyl go to Home Depot flooring dept and grab a few black rubber base moldings, cuts real easy. I've used these for cushioning and also to make the strip between alumn rad and steel support.

Re: Nightmares
let us know how it works out, I found out last week when ordering new data tag from Marti Reports that someone made the 4th position of the title (engine code) a 'P', not the 'D' is is supposed to be. No such thing as a 'P' engine code for my 65. When the new data tag arrives I'll take it, the origi...

you shouldn't have to take the switch out, can't you just unplug the harness on the blower motor? I just replaced mine and didn't remove switch or wires at ignition.

Re: Cowl Rubber Strip - anyone have a pic?
Well after threat of lawyer (many in the family) they stepped up and sent a senior installer who installed back window and windshield and deducted the cost of the broken glass from the install labor. Installer was on my side and couldn't believe what they were putting me through. He even offered to ...
