you might have a sender wire that has insulation worn and is grounding out letting too much voltage thru the pulse generator. trace all your wires. that's where i'd start.

on my 66 with the stock setup,

disconnect horns under the hood.
push in and turn, i believe counter clockwise, the horn ring and pull towards you.

if he uses 15" wheels like mine, he won't be able to get the hubcaps off after they snap on. there isn't enough room to remove them. he needs at least 16" or larger.

thanks guys for the info. i'll look closer at it to figure how that much oil coulda made it into the bellhousing. I had the oil clutch and giant mess too, and am 90% sure it was just the intake causing all the mess. I didn't touch the rear main on mine, far too much work when most folks tell me that...

hello, well I just pulled my engine and trans (np 4-speed) to replace the slipping clutch, fix the blown out intake seal (rear) and replace leaki exhaust manifold gaskets. what i found was there was a fair amount of oil in the bell housing area and the disc looked "wet-ish". the whole back...

another question... is there a difference between a f100 c6 trans and a f250 c6 trans? given they both had 360 in front of them and were of, let's say, 1972 vintage.

mike, yep, i'll keep scanning craigs list for a late 60's early 70's truck with an auto then sell the rest. that seems the best way to go about it.
