It depends on the drive gear in the trans; I don't know what it's got but if it's a 6T you'll need a 12T gear, for 7T a 14T gear, and for an 8T a 16T gear. When I had my '66 I think I maxed out at 13mpg. That was with a 302, 2" straight pipes, 4spd with OD, 3.25 gears and 235/75/15 tires.

You'd need a whole lot more HP to take advantage of 3" pipes; 2.5" would be plenty with room for upgrades. I hope yer planning on an H-pipe for extra torque.

Also it's an open rear-end, not limited slip.

You should take a look at the J-mod for the 4r70w; quicker shifts, longer service life. And adding a drain plug would be nice too.
