Re: Radiator upgrade in my '66
Be sure to check out the champion rads. I have been very pleased with the one in the wife's 65..It cools our 390 no problem at all. I got it from ledfoot racing on ebay.

Re: I need opinions on engine choice
Just keep in mind that year 302 is very weak..I think they were rated about 120hp that year and if yours has over 100k on it its not likely even got that much power...I swapped out a 302 in a 1982 F100 for a 1969 429 thunderjet..The big 429 had stupid power and it actually got better gas mileage tha...

[quote="DV65CustomCab"]Johnny Canuck in 3...2... Well, you asked... I would never do this. With the plentiful number of Ford engines on the planet that will easily bolt in, why you'd want to use a Brand X and have to rig up every mount, electrical connection and linkage just because it's a...

Ignition switch bezel same as mustang?
I have been told the 64-66 mustang bezel (C3AZ-11584A) is the same as the slick pickups? Anyone know if this is true?

Help....ignition switch removal from dash (65)
The ignition switch gave up in the wifes 65 today with lots of sparks and smoke ...... Time for a new one but I cannot seem to get the old one out of the dash..Tried turning the rear part out of the bezel but they seem to be locked together..
Also where can I buy a replacement?

The 351 is a much better engine in a truck in my opinion..Glad you found a new block.

Re: Anyone put a champion aluminium rad in a 65?
Finally got the rad installed and thought I would post up some pics in case anyone is interested in doing this swap..I basically just trimmed the brackets off of the front side and used the rear mounting surface instead.Had to fabricate a couple of 1 3/4 inch wide flat peices of steel to fill in the...

Anyone put a champion aluminium rad in a 65?
I bought a champion rad off of ebay m The mounting holes are just a little too narrow across to bolt up..Also this rad is quite thick (3 3/4 inches) so if I did mount it in the original position it would be pretty close to the engine...I am debating the best way to mount this thing..I am thinking ab...

Re: i'm bored.
The switch from 28 oz to 50oz did indeed start in 1981 ao you could have either....If you do some googling online I am sure you can find a picture of the weights on the flywheels..The 50oz weight is obviously much bigger than the 28 oz.....As for the 302 swap that era of smog 302s was about as bad a...

Re: Which radhose?
Take a tape measure and check if that van radiator will fit the 65 before you spend any more time on this deal. I don't think it will. IMHO! Yes I already did..Looks like it will fit with some trimming of the mounting brackets on the rad..The rad that is in it has some custom mounts already so it i...

Re: Which radhose?
I am wondering if I cut the ends off of the original hoses and left them on the inlet and outlet of the rad..They would act like a bushing to fill the space for the hoses that I have now..Not sure if it would leak or not though.

You can replace the lifters if the camshaft is in good shape..You cannot reuse old lifters on a new cam.

Which radhose?
I helped a buddy remove an engine from an 87 van and he gave me the rad for my help..I am hoping this will work in the wifes 65 but the hose sizes on the rad are kinda small..1 1/2 on the top and 1 3/4 on the bottom..Does anyone know of any rad hoses that might work with a 390?.. http://i45.photobuc...

Re: Some dash bezel questions.. fan in in choke hole?
Thanks for the info guys..Just to clarify the truck does not have a manual choke right now. Most cheap sets of mechanics picks include a right angled one which is a quick and efficient tool for such knobs.A regular pocket knife works well as long as you realize the off position puts the "tang&q...
