Re: Stock 1965 F-250 Dana 60 Torque & HP Limits?
A higher spline count has smaller splines, which ends up farther away from the teeth of the spider gear. Which helps lessen the potential for cracks in the spider forming... Or so I have been told.

Re: Stock 1965 F-250 Dana 60 Torque & HP Limits?
I'm not sure...I know 16 and 30 are the norm In "normal use" I've never seen a failure on any spline count. I know Serious 'off road' prefer a higher spline count. It has much more to do with sudden loads against the spider gears, and failures of those, rather than the Axel's themselves. I...

Re: Stock 1965 F-250 Dana 60 Torque & HP Limits?
Dana 60's are all most bullet proof irregardless of year, if maintenanced reasonably well. I had a 68 Dana 60 behind a Cummins 12 valve for years (lots of torque and neck snapping Allison shifts ... No problems. I swapped to a Dana 61 for the ratio not for the strength... Go thru the bearings and br...

61F250 4x4 power steering
My uni now has power steering. Went with a W250 style setup. Saginaw power steering box and pump. And dodge 4x4 draglink, and steering shaft. Box mounts right behind the front spring shackle, currently using the standard push pull drag link. Eventually I want to go to cross steering and eliminate so...

I own one car garage with Two sportsters in plus two welders, two plasma cutters, 3 compressors, enough hand tools for ANY automotive project, plus household repair items. It has a path through it that rivals any heist/espionage movie... So yea, I get it!

Re: Front disc brake conversion
If you haven't thought about a brake booster,or at least dual chamber master cylinder, maybe you should.... A dual chamber master cylinder and can add a safety factor to your system. While the booster can make stopping easier. Personally I have never had a problem getting drum brakes to stop or at l...

Re: Front disc brake conversion
This should give you an idea what it takes to get Chevy disk brakes on your Ford D44. https://tomsoffroad.com/pages/ford-bronco-schematics/drivetrain/dana-30-and-dana-44-disc-brake-conversion/ Then there's swapping in a later D44 that has open knuckles and disk brakes, and gives a tighter turning ra...

Well, let me ask a few questions first....
Is this a closed knuckle Dana 44?
How original do you want to keep this truck?
Are you good at fabrication, and working out clearance and parts choices?
