Re: fuel injection

I've been running one of their GoStreet units for well over a year now and have nothing negative to say about it.

Re: Is this the original bench seat?

It looks like a slick seat frame. Tubular and heavy. I know the seats in the early 70's went to sheet metal construction. But what date that was I have no idea. Here is mine when I was restoring it. It is a 1966 seat. They are the best that I have of the frame itself. I hope they help. http://i529.p...

Re: Muffler Question??

Here is an old video of my truck with its Flowmasters. Since this was taken I installed a crossover and it does indeed sound quieter at idle and more 5.0ish under acceleration. Sorry no video of that. I also have headers and a small cam.

Re: Possible to pull oil pan without lifting engine? (352)

Pretty sure the rear main seal is good. It's just the oil pan gasket is past its prime. Not just at the back but the sides as well. I have not touched it since I owned the truck and the bolts are torqued up tight. Should have replaced it when the truck was just an engine and frame when I was restori...

Possible to pull oil pan without lifting engine? (352)

My oil pan gasket is leaking pretty good. Is it possible to pull the oil pan without lifting the engine?

Re: Valve Springs?

Stock springs are weak. 45+ year old stock springs are very weak. Replacing them is advisable if you plan on revving the engine past 4k rpms. Getting some valve float and dropping a valve will ruin your day. A mild replacement set of springs is not very expensive. Around $100 or so. The price goes u...

Re: Were all 65/66 Slicks equipped w/ dashpads?

My truck had one on when I bought it, but was terribly cracked. I removed it. With the price of a new one, I doubt if it will ever have one reinstalled.

Re: door coolers

I made one out of a steel flat panel cover. I just out out the metal in the middle (Carefully) and painted it in chrome trim paint. 90% solution for me.

Re: Chrome Shops?

A guy I know sends all his parts to http://www.ogdenchrome.com/

Lots of high end people and shops use them Jay Leno, Foose, Boyd, etc. They will pick up and return ship. My buddy was very happy with the quality and never had a bad thing to say other than you get what you pay for.

Re: My 66 F-100 Shortbed resto. Taking a while.

I drove the truck 380 miles each way to the NPD Silver Springs car show in Ocala FL last weekend. Managed an average of about 15.2mpg doing 70-75 mph on the interstate. That means about 200 miles to the tank. Truck ran great. Not a single issue. I ended up buying a new grill from NPD while I was the...

Re: Need an opinion on Prop Comp heads.

Buy them bare and build them up. The china stuff is cheap for a reason. Using something that does not move like a intake manifold is one thing, but valvetrain parts really need to use the highest quality metals as they cycle several hundred million times in that application. https://www.youtube.com/...

Re: Tremec TKO behind a 390

I have a Tremec 3550 in mine. I have some info and pictures of how I did it it my build thread. Definitely not a transmission that you are going to find in a recyclers. Not terribly difficult, but there is almost no info on the web about this swap. http://www.slick60s.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=25...

Got it all fixed up and it drives great again. Towed my 85 GT to the track which was 80 miles away. Managed 11.25mpg's which surprised even me. Was a good day.

Re: My 66 F-100 Shortbed resto. Taking a while.

Had a bit of a setback the past few weeks. The clutch was juddering pretty badly, especially when warm. So bad that it would make the hood and rest of the truck shake. I assumed it was the flywheel as it was the one component that I took for granted was in good shape, but never had surfaced before i...

Re: Choosing a slick that will run with modern traffic

I have my modded 352, 3.50 rear gear but I installed a Tremec 3550 5-speed. It makes all the difference in the world. 55-60 mph is about 1600 rpm's in 5th. I estimate I went from 10-11mpg's with the cruise-o-matic to about 13-14mpg's with the Tremec, but I've never gone a whole tank of gas on the in...

Re: One piece drive shaft in a 66

It's not a performance vehicle so the two piece shaft really isn't hurting you. A one piece in a longbed might be longer than most shops would recommend unless you stepped up to a 4" diameter tube or something not really financially viable.
