I hadn't thought about the vin, but I do have titles on both vehicles which is a plus.
Thanks for all the advice. It is good to have options.

Re: Non Slick 4 x 4 conversion question
I really appreciate all your thoughts on how to make my four wheel drive work. I am thinking I might research "pulling" the body off the 4 x 4, noting all the mounting points. Work the chassis into shape then put the body of the 2 wheel drive on top of it. Looks like I may need to get a bi...

Re: Non Slick 4 x 4 conversion question
That's what I was unsure of if it was easier to swap the four wheel components than the body. My 70 2 wheel drive is in really good shape. The 71 4 wheel drive was rescued from being buried in about one and a half feet of West Texas dirt. Rusty but otherwise rebuildable I think. Are there any issues...

Non Slick 4 x 4 conversion question
I have a 1971 F250 2 wheel drive and a 1970 F250 4 x 4.
Can I "pull" the running gear off the 4 x 4 and install it on the 2 wheel drive chassis?
Is there any modification needed or would it require the 4 x 4 frame as well?
Thanks for the help.

Re: 1961 4X4 engine and transmission install
Well it looks like I have some homework to do before I decide which way to go. I'm not planning on any heavy off roading. Just want to put the old truck back together to drive and enjoy. Thanks for all of the excellent advice.

Re: 1961 4X4 engine and transmission install
Can I use the mounts out of a 65?
How does the transfer case selector mount to the transmission?
Would this make both sides of the drive shaft have a yoke?
Thanks for the help?

1961 4X4 engine and transmission install
I have a 1961 F100 4X4 with out an engine or transmission. I do have all of the rest of the driveline. Can I put a 352 engine in the truck and if so what transmission will I need to bolt up to the engine and then to the divorced transfer case (driveshaft). I have 4 speed trans out of a two wheel dri...

Does anyone know what width the wheel is on the truck in the picture? If possible, I would also like to know the tire size.

Re: 1961 F100 4X4 Bed Question.
Thanks for the information.
Being as 4X4 beds around here are pretty scarce if I put a 57-65 wrong bed on my truck, can I leave the cross members where they are and not affect anything? I would just need to drill new mounting holes in the frame?

1961 F100 4X4 Bed Question.
I have a 1961 step side long bed F100 4X4 truck. I wanted to know if a standard long bed would be a direct swap out? If so, what years will work, and how do I tell if it is correct?
Thanks for the help.

Re: 1965 Camper Special Question?
I definitely have a Ford 9". I will look this weekend but I think I have the paperwork from the dealer adding the Detroit Locker to the differential. It also has the big radiator, 352 engine, side tool box, four speed transmission, and the eleven leaf springs. Thank you for the help and informa...

Dana Versus 9" Ford Differential
This may be a silly question. Do they make a Dana rear end in a F100 two wheel drive?
If so, how do you tell versus a 9" differential?
Thanks for the help.

Re: 1965 Camper Special Question?
I do have a side tool box, and heavier springs. I will look for the relay and wiring.
Silly question, how do I identify a Dana rear Axle? I just assumed it was a Ford 9" in my F100.
I think I also have the paperwork where a Detroit Locker Differential was installed at the Dealer.

1965 Camper Special Question?
In 1965, did the F100's have a Camper Special option? I have my first truck since 1980 with Camper Special badges and have wondered if they were changed out.
It is a long bed, 352, truck four speed, Detroit Locker Rear end (Dealer Installed), and I think about nine leaf springs.
Thanks for the help.

1977 4X4 Non Slick Question
I have recently acquired a 1977 F150 Ford 4X4 with a manual transmission. It has a 351 Modified engine in that is pretty tired. I was wondering if any has done an engine swap out with an FE motor?
If so is there any thing special on mating up with the transmission? Thanks for the help.
