Re: Post your mileage for the year !
1634 so far this year. I drive it daily, except for the week we spent in Hawaii. It welcomed me home by springing a leak in the fuel line between the pump and carb.

Re: New Guy Old Truck (65 F250 4x4)
less then thrilling update: So, a few days ago I hopped into the truck to go home from work, and when i went to start it, hooo lordy it made an awful sound. It sounded like a metal toolbox being thrown into a propeller. But the engine pretty much always starts instantly , and vroom it started up and...

Re: New Guy Old Truck (65 F250 4x4)
This truck is a dump-runner, playground cruiser (that sounds weird), home improvement hauler and pretty much my man-cave at the moment as our house is tiny and there's no garage. I'd offer the old bumper/hitch to whoever wants it, but, all the brackets were bolted AND welded to the frame so everythi...

Re: New Guy Old Truck (65 F250 4x4)
Update time! the truck has been utterly reliable, easy to work on, and my little girl (17 months) asks me every day to take her for a ride. She always says "again!" when we are back home after some errands. Had a good long day to finally do some stuff. First I did the stereo, after pulling...

Re: MPG's
I've only gone through three tanks of gas so far, second one i got 6.5, third tank i got 8. 352 with 4-speed and DANA 4.10 geared. It has a 600cfm Edelbrock 4bbl and headers. I wish it got better, for sure.
Mid range fuel made a little bump in MPG and made it run MUCH smoother.

Super basic bodywork question.
Aside from unwrapping the foil on a gas station hamburger, I have no experience bending sheet metal or doing body work of any sort. But, I noticed today that the beat up old wrongside bed is rubbing up against the cab. To many loads of gravel I suppose, it is just bowed forward in the center of the ...

Re: Factory rear bumpers
Here's one more choice. This one is from Torklift Central, judging from the sticker. who knows though, it probably has been modified six times. Look solid as all get out though, if not the prettiest. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7160/6721074207_14d3af2feb_z.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7167/67...

Re: New Guy Old Truck (65 F250 4x4)
Had one minor old truck issue so far, the solenoid stuck and the + battery terminal self destructed, spraying a fair amount of lead on the underside of the access hatch. I am guessing the battery terminal was probably already a sad mess, and that's why the solenoid stuck in the first place. I should...

Re: New Guy Old Truck (65 F250 4x4)
There's a nice looking and pretty shiny looking Twin I Beam badge on the driver's side. Did Ford put that on, even though the 4x4 has solid axles, or was that a later addition?

Re: New Guy Old Truck (65 F250 4x4)
it's all welded in there and there's a rusty old Sears winch in there, you can just barely see cable coming out in the very center. i went to check the tire size and had no idea what i was reading, ha! what happened to 285/75 R16 or whatever? these are the tires on it: 8R-19.5/12 Double Coin RT500 i...

Re: New Guy Old Truck (65 F250 4x4)
looked up the VIN. it was made in march of 65 in San Jose, and indeed has the 352. The guy I bought it from is a talented chopper builder and car customizer, I wouldn't surprise me if he put that grill on there for one reason or another (he has two other, funkier slicks behind his barn). It does see...

New Guy Old Truck (65 F250 4x4)
Very new to the truck. Had a crush on it for months, talked the guy out of it over some beers last weekend, bought it yesterday. It's gotta lot of miles on clock and is ratty around the edges but runs great and will get put to plenty of use by me. I look forward to bugging the smart guys around here...
