Re: 1966 F-350 Midland brake booster (firewall mount) failur

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, after I saw the used fluid in the booster housing, I guessed a new M/C or at least a rebuild kit is necessary. That's not a big deal as far as cost. But those boosters - ouch! I had noticed an air 'whoosh' once in a while from under the dash while driving, but though...

Re: 1966 F-350 Midland brake booster (firewall mount) failur

Update - I pulled the M/C forward and removed the vacuum booster. A snap of the parts tag #C4026 is here: http://www.slick60s.com/gallery/image.php?album_id=381&image_id=13053 There was a little - not much, but some - dark brake fluid inside the rubber boot. So evidently the M/C is leaking enoug...

1966 F-350 Midland brake booster (firewall mount) failure?

Hello, I have a stumper and am hoping someone knows the answer. This Midland vacuum booster is on my 1966 F350. http://www.slick60s.com/gallery/image.php?album_id=381&image_id=13052 http://www.slick60s.com/gallery/image.php?album_id=381&image_id=13051 Brakes worked fine for years with regula...

Re: Brush and cattle guards for Slicks

Thanks everybody for the info. Guess I need to keep looking for a good used one. Rich, if you find yours, let me know - Carmi is about 300 miles NE of ea TN. I did hear back from Luverne. no joy: Douglas, Thanks for your inquiry. I called and forwarded your email to Engineering. We may still have so...

Brush and cattle guards for Slicks

Hello, I've seen photos of brush/cattle guards for our Slicks, but have not been able to find much info on who made them? I'd like to hang one on my '66 F-350. If I can't find a straight used one, I'm willing to make one. But that sure would be simpler if the pattern/plans/measurements info were ava...

Re: Cab sheet metal alignment

Well, first off, seeing as how your truck is not only a F-350, but a dump truck besides, it is possible one or more of the previous owners might have overloaded it, causing the frame to sag a little bit? If your '65 is like my 1 ton '66, it has the straight axle and cab steps, where the smaller 65-6...

Re: 65 Ford F250 4wd / Project Complete

Very nice work. What is the master brake cylinder from?

Nice F-350 too - my '66 is just about the same, including those funky rims. Just not near as nice and clean as yours!

Again, nice work.

Re: New wiring harness for the '66

I'm not aware of a harness that has the correct connectors. I used one of the basic Painless kits a while back on my stock longbed '66. It was nice having labelled wires, but I probably paid too much for this. I think there are lots more choices now and prices are more realistic. Save your old conne...

I agree - will be sending my order in today.

Yes, Brian, thanks for the link. I sure like that approach better too!

Funny how often all this classic 'stang and Bronco stuff works for our trucks.

Skip is right, it is the right thing to do. I didn't want to go through this, but my mom insisted. "Go get your tonsils checked from the far end" was how she put it. And yes, the prep for the process will leave you clean as a whistle at both ends. Go ahead, put up with all the jokes you wi...

Re: Straight Axle vs Twin I Beam

This may not be a fair comparison, but I like the way my '66 1 ton (straight beam) handles on corners. Just cruises around, no funny stuff. My 1/2 ton '66 with the beams dives and rolls like - well, like a car.

Re: Its so ugly its gorgeous!!

Nope. It needs to be felt sorry for. Both donor vehicles looked fine before somebody with:
1. a welder
2. case of cheap panther piss beer
3. too much time on his hands
got hold of it.

Re: 65/66 core support now available

Thanks for posting the photos - these help. So this is a blend of both years? Looks like some mods will be required for either '65 or '66, correct? My '66 cores don't have supports like those, so they would need to be cut off. And as Banjopicker pointed out, there are no attach points for the batter...

Re: Expensive engine detailing job

Yes, all those photos of the dang ugly seatcover and varying street views. Only two of the bed, not even the whole thing, and what, two of the frame from underneath? Lame. Someone is selling this on image alone. Some buyer will come along what don't know which end of the pencil goes in the sharpener...

Hi Denny! Thanks for posting the rescue photos. Lots of info for the board here to work with. I USED to be from MinneSNOWta, but moved to TN about 20 years ago. If the taxes don't send you packing, the snow just might. That and summer lasting three weeks or so... Sure wish my family had held onto so...

Re: '66 Slick - frame differences btwn F-100 & F-250?

Thank you - that explains a lot. So the 3/4 ton probably has heavier leafs and different rear axle? I am considering building up a '66 2WD longbed for long haul towing. I already have a good 352 and several T-18's. No fifth wheel towing, just cargo trailers and car haulers. I have a receiver hitch o...

'66 Slick - frame differences btwn F-100 & F-250?

Does anyone have photos of a bare '65 or '66 F-250 frame? I was curious as to how different they are from the stock F-100 longbed frame.

thanks,
