Re: 1966 headlight adjuster

1966 headlight adjuster

I recently bought a grill that was a "second" that Dennis Carpenter rejected as perfect. It is missing the headlight bucket adjusters. I just have the rectangular hole with a hole on either side. Has anyone used Dorman 42171 as a replacement?
Thanks for your answers.

After posting this link I realized that I did post it here as well.

Re: 1966 F100 Build

I bought a new Vintair Air Compac II last October. The dealer said that It should fit fine. My initial thought was to buy the mini but he insisted that hundreds put the Compac II in. I opened the unit last week to look again at the instructions. It came with these cheap straps which would seem fine ...

Re: 1966 F100 Build

Ok, Just bought and remodeled my house so we are getting back working on the truck. Thought I would post fitment of a 29x15-20 Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R Radial. Tubs are 14" wide, 4 3/4 over stock. Bed is sitting on the floor so it is a rough fitment. Seems like it will work when I get the ...

Can you tell me where the other bolts are that you placed in the firewall for mounting the evaporator?
Thanks

Re: 1966 F100 Build

Man, it has been a year since posting. I moved to a new house and you know how that goes... Truck coming home from storage soon... Looks great! I'm thinking about doing this same process on the bed floor...do you have pics of what you fabricated to attach the bed to the frame with the new bed floor ...

Re: 1966 F100 Build

Thanks for all the kind words but the craftsmanship is less than perfect. Bondo and fiberglass and SlickSand will be my friend. I'm personally a fan of the 18s with more sidewall tucked under the truck! Tire choices are many in the 18 inch market, I've always run on 18s and have had everything from ...

Re: 1966 F100 Build

I bought some 3/16 cold rolled bar from the local supply house and went to work on the bed seams. First I filled in the vertical tail section. I also welded in some small holes that were a result of rust thru . http://www.slick60s.com/gallery/image.php?album_id=652&image_id=11137&mode=thumbn...

Re: 1966 F100 Build

More Bed mods and fixes Well I cut the bad fender section out and prepared the donor metal and marked for the cut. I used welding clips to hold the piece in place. http://www.slick60s.com/gallery/image.php?album_id=652&image_id=11120 http://www.slick60s.com/gallery/image.php?album_id=652&im...

Re: 1966 F100 Build

I needed a rear brace for the gas tank frame so I fabricated a x member and tacked it in. Then I made a mount for the rear of the tank. http://www.slick60s.com/gallery/image.php?album_id=652&image_id=11071 http://www.slick60s.com/gallery/image.php?album_id=652&image_id=11070 http://www.slick...

Re: 1966 F100 Build

I slid my x-member all the way to the rear of the rails like in Skip's write up. No problem w/ my flareside... I guess my truck is special  So while I am at the rear of the truck I thought I would go ahead and make room for the 1970 22 Gallon Gas tank. I trimmed off just a little to make room ...

Re: 1966 F100 Build

What is your crossmember to crossmember dimension? The crossmember behind the axle has a long bottom and a shorter top.. so from the lower longest point to the rear crossmember it is 23 7/8" Anyway just spent the last hour cutting it out. I also spot welded the crossmember through the old rive...

Re: 1966 F100 Build

Here are actual pics just taken. The crossmember is welded in but I can still modify to fit. The rear crossmember definitely has interference with the rear cross brace. From to top looking down. http://www.slick60s.com/gallery/image.php?album_id=652&image_id=11060 http://www.slick60s.com/gallery...

Re: 1966 F100 Build

If the build is based on a flareside that may be the issue. Here is the point of interference. I can easily cut out some metal on the frame crossmember. http://www.slick60s.com/gallery/image.php?album_id=652&image_id=11058 I do not have access to the truck right now but here is a pic of the cros...

I am putting a wood floor in mine but it is a short bed. Building a tube frame and adding wood.

Re: 1966 F100 Build

So I drilled out the last crossmember and welded it in the rear to accept the mustang tank conversion. I lowered the bed down and I will hit the repositioned crossmember with the rear crossmember of the bed. I guess I have been reading mustang tank installs on stepside beds because there is no way t...

Re: 1966 F100 Build

Working on several things at one time. Looking at mocking up a Vintage Air unit. This dash is wayyy more shallow than I thought it was. Looks like the Gen II Compac will fit nicely. I was hoping to get the Gen IV But unless the passenger wants a foot rest that will not happen. Got my Mustang tank co...

Re: 1966 F100 Build

This has been a pretty productive day. I tacked in the tubing around the perimeter 2" up from the bottom lip. Then I cut pieces for the front and rear tubs. The frame rails measure 19 1/4 " in from the side so I put forward and rear braces in with that in mind offsetting them so not to be ...
