Re: 65 cab 62 uni frame?

suspension doesn't matter as it's already jag swapped. steering will be handled via an aftermarket column. i am more curious is a set of cab mounts from a 65-66 frame added to the 62 frame would put me on the right path or if it's making mounts. several people passed on the uni before i picked it up...

Re: Jaguar xj research questions

if you can't find donor up there i have a pretty regular source for xj donors down here in nc. guy only parts xjs so you get the bigger sway bar and heavier springs(you probably want the xj6 springs though). same price or maybe cheaper than the one you mentioned. charlotte autofair is coming up soon...

Re: Crown vic, rim selection

how many jag suspension swaps have you done? NONE......... then how do you have any idea how long one takes? i can drop all the straight axle suspension out from under one in a coupla hours. then a coupla hours of leveling and rechecking frame to correct and tweaks. i know where to locate the front ...

Re: Crown vic, rim selection

to the og poster i have seen a few trucks including a local(ish) bumpside that used cv and used the cop car steelies and i like that set up better than the mustang wheels ALOT of people run with the cv swap. but i will agree with Toyz(see we do see eye to eye sometimes) that if you want to keep the ...

Re: Crown vic, rim selection

dude i have not idea what your deal is but.......... you need to do your own reading up. there is a nig difference between the positive offset that are standard to most rwd cars that have been used for common donors for many years and the HIGH positive of more modern donor like the CV. rarely to you...

Re: Crown vic, rim selection

jag does NOT have high positive offset wheels like the cv. SO many unfounded truths on that swap it's getting unreal. stock jag wheels for the years those donors were ran 15x6 - 15x7 wheels with offsets of 24-28mm. the dayton wire wheels that were an option were to my knowledge the biggest exception...

Re: crown vic center line

how low you plan to go has a little bit to do with it. the lower you go the more you move it. just going crossmember to frame 1.25-1.5". cut coil(s), bagged, etc 1.5-2". so if you want a safe middle ground figure 1.5". no use trying to get perfect since you're putting in a suspension ...

Re: S10 frame

large 4 piston calipers(forget the size and to tired to go out and measure but they are nice big 4 pots. 11" rotors. 5x4.75(chevy bolt pattern) but the threads on the studs are ford thread pitch so ford lugs. pretty much all rebuild parts are about the same cost wise as most any other donor. th...

Re: S10 frame

again JAGUAR XJ....... 59.5" width JUST LIKE your truck came with. EASY swap to do as easy or easier than CV. you DO NOT have to cut the frame into and do all the core support locating and stuff. jag crossmember straight to frame welded in gives you about 4-4.5" of suspension drop another ...

Re: S10 frame

as said s10 is to narrow for these trucks. i like a nice tucked wheel also but stock width does that pretty decent already on these trucks. with the s10 i have a feeling you'd be all in the inner fenders rubbing kinda the opposite of the, in my opinion bad choice of 03+ CV. therefore in my opinion t...

small block buicks can pull some impressive numbers and still have good power to. buick 350 backed by a 200-4r with low to mid 3 rear ratio is another formula thats been played with in some big buicks and are good daily drivers and knocking down high 20s. olds 307 is another good run forever. most f...

Re: 72 GM front end in unibody

jag is WAY to easy not to do in these trucks. if someone brought me a 61-64 with motor/trans out of the way and front sheetmetal off(i know where the centerline needs to be). i could do one in a weekend. friday night pull the old and trim the jag and get it tacked in, sat weld everything up and prob...

unless someone has info i've missed having the harness reworked for the 4.6 is $600-800 unless you can do so yourself so there goes most of your budget just for the harness. therefore i think it's out.......... if the 727 is in good shape i'm almost sure it's small block mopar pattern so a 318 or 36...

Re: anyone UPDATE STOCK 65 SUSPENSION WITH AFTERMARKET ONE?

i think Porterbuilt is working on the 65-72. don't know where they are with it. with a twin beam truck getting the old stuff out is 1/4 ot more of the job. 61-64 is soooo much easier. i can drop the stock stuff out from a 61-64 and have it prepped for whatever donor in an afternoon. getting to that ...

Re: anyone UPDATE STOCK 65 SUSPENSION WITH AFTERMARKET ONE?

As for the Crown Vick swap, talked to a guy over the weekend at a show that narrowed his and then swapped it into the vehicle. Said it worked like a champ and didn't have to use funky offset wheels. it can only be narrowed 2.5" or so. so you still have to be choosey with your wheels. and i cou...
