Re: Replaced fuel tank now having a weird issue
Check the float drop measurement. The float drops a bit too low and lets the needle valve get jammed wide open. Had the same thing happen to me on my 61 223 on the way to slickstock in 2008. Had to do a roadside adjustment and never had a problem from then on. Just bent the little tang a tad to limi...

Pat, Give a careful look at the the little fiber washers around the post where the point current passes thru the distributor housing. Good luck & keep the old iron running.

Re: FYI ON 223 CARB.
Just for info. Been a few years ago now. There is a carb rebuilder just to the west side of the I-17 freeway on McDowell Road in Phoenix that does a wonderful job on carbs. That is where I got the glass bowl 1904 that I had on the 223 in my 62 Uni. At this time, I can't remember the name, but it was...

Re: gear ratio for easier highway speed
The 62 that I sold to Doug came with a 3.70 ratio. After I installed the T5 with OD, 5th gear made it comparable to a 2.70 ratio and made a nice cruiser out of it.

Re: Keep your Ford N. I. C. E.
I admit I have been guilty of this "crime" in years long gone. I have installed a 302 Ford in a 51 Chevy Pickup, a 318 Chrysler in a 39 Ford pickup, a 283 Chevy in a 50 Ford pickup and a 223 Ford in a 61 Studebaker pickup. Back in the day I would just crossbreed whatever I could find that ...

Spent almost a year in Chu-Lai area in 1965&66. Lots of boys became men. Lots of lives wasted and lives changed forever, some not to the good side. But we were doing our duty to our country and what we had signed up for. Semper Fidelis. Once a Marine-Always a Marine.

The 1962 F100 Unibody that I sold to Doug had the 2 spd wipers on it and I believe it came from the factory that way.

Re: Old used car dealer tricks and how to spot some of those
This thread brings back a lot of memories to this old fart. Back in the late 60s & early 70s, I worked for Naumann Fork Lifts in Phoenix. When customers would trade in an old one when they bought a new forklift, the old one was turned over to me and my partner in the back for rebuilding and sale...

I have used both Pertronix and Compufire in the past. Just set with about .030 gap. This looks like the Hotspark unit, which I don't know anything about. www.Hot-Spark.com might get info.

Re: clutch vacuum leak?
Sounds like it's coming from under the dash around the pedals? More than likely the brake booster is going bad as the air intake for the booster is where the push rod goes through the firewall and is where you will hear the "whoosh"/

Chris,
Over at the Fordification, I think under the Technical part, there is or was a reprint of the original Overdrive Manual. There is also some good info on the "Old Burb" site, even though that site is for Suburban guys.

I bought a pair of the covers from somebody at SS 3 in Altoona. They went with all the extra stuff to Doug(64 Ranger) when I sol him my 62 Uni.

That's not a new thing with State Governments being money hungry. As some of you know, I have been a Pilot for close to 40 years and have owned a number of Airplanes over that time that I have used for personal and pleasure flying. Back in the late 80s, I had bought and sold 3 planes one year, 2 in ...

I was sitting in a Bar in Reno having a few cool one's when the news hit. High-tailed it to the Base (I was in the Marine Corps at that time) cause didn't know what might happen with such a catastrophic happening.
