Re: 63 Uni Crown Vic swap - Start to finish

wow awesome build. and the pictures are good too Have you mocked up how the front fenders will fit around that tire/wheel combo? sorry if that has already been asked. Yes I did mock it up and with the current 5.5 backspace on the rims, clearance is no bueno. During the build I was hopeful that the ...

Re: 63 Uni Crown Vic swap - Start to finish

Just an update.. I was trying to get an accurate track width measurement for the CV front end and needed a little help.. Also, carb needed some tuning. I'll post the measurements when I get a minute.. http://i1038.photobucket.com/albums/a462/jcperea69/F100%20Resto/20140517_002053_zpsce5a29e6.jpg htt...

Re: 63 Uni Crown Vic swap - Start to finish

How much did the suspension compress with the 460 on it? I'm looking to do the same drivetrain combo in a 1966. Thanks for the pics and build up. Surprisingly, not much. I think the police springs are much stiffer than the LX.. Plenty of travel left. we dropped the 302 and trans in my buddys 65 wit...

Re: 63 Uni Crown Vic swap - Start to finish

Just to answer a few questions: This front end is from a 2005 Police Interceptor The Ididit column is 30" The trans xmember is a 3" drop I torqued the 4 main thru bolts for the CV front end to 185 ftlbs. (Read that somewhere) P/S pressure line - Robbed the connection to rack, it was then s...

Re: 63 Uni Crown Vic swap - Start to finish

Dude the ride is tight! Roll is very much under control. It has the interceptor springs so the rate is a little stiffer but so much better than what it was. Power steering and brakes make it so much more drivable. I have no complaints.

Running 5x4.5 all around. Got some conversion spacers for the rears. Will probably have the axles redrilled for 5x4.5 next time they're out.

Re: 63 Uni Crown Vic swap - Start to finish

Simon,
I think if you're really budget minded and don't mind hitting the scrap yard a few times, you can get away under $1000. I did a lot of other upgrades with cooling, brakes, gauges and motor dress up so I was in for more than that..

63 Uni Crown Vic swap - Start to finish

Hey guys. So I've been lurking around this forum and others for several months gathering info on this swap. I'm somewhat of a newbie hot rodder and this is really my first big project. I've had this 63 for about 2 years and in that time have just been working the motor and trans. Figured it was time...
