Spent some time today doing a dry assemble of the parts we had... Used the diesel engine hoist to put the short block and tranny in... http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag3/FBilljeeps/Bobs%20Ford%20Pickup%20Project/DSCN2906_zpsd0d17d58.jpg Discovered the mount towers were slightly rear by about 2-...

Re: the holy grail of custom slicks!!!!

It takes a lot of talent and completely different tastes than I have to build a truck like that....in the 60's that would have blown minds.

I like original survivors, but I have been told I am too lazy to like anything else..lol.

Re: What did I get myself in to now? One piece at a time 64-

Welcome from California! It looks like a great start The column is offset to the right as you describe. I do not believe that column and steering box are a match to each other so a measurement may not be available. You may have to hunt and peck at it to acheive desired results. Do the vin numbers f...

Re: What did I get myself in to now? One piece at a time 64-

The cab mounts, at least the front ones, are bolted to the frame and appear to have been removed from the earlier style frame.. Definitely hold onto that bracket for me....I have seen one in person and think I could build one but the time would be better spent on figuring other issues like the colum...

Re: Anyone seen or used this HEIDTS front suspension?

The kit I installed was designed for a specific drop......to lay the frame on the ground is way beyond where most will want it, and probably not real DOT approved so you are probably on your own to do that.....

Re: Pate Swapmeet 2014

If I am lucky I might attend but I think work will put the brakes on it.

Re: US General toolboxes - anyone have one?

I have the Husky box from Home depot, and am extremely satisfied with it. and it is LOADED. I also have the black tool cart for HF, and it is an excellent value for the money. As far as their other toolboxes go, the bigger ones are pretty good values, just make sure your box works well before leavin...

Re: Anyone seen or used this HEIDTS front suspension?

They make good stuff, I used their kit on an old non Ford a while ago and was impressed with the fit and overall quality. Agree the price can be an issue, but you pay for the engineering and testing....it is pretty foolproof.

Here's some front end sheet metal pics. The owner wants to use the 66 grille we got in DFW, (It is the most complete needing only turn signal lenses.) Fenders appear to be pre 65 ones with the rounded inners...still have to see how the left one will fit over that steering box.. http://i1296.photobuc...
