Re: Another 65 Build

The carpet and gas tank curtain are now in. I went ahead and bolted in the console. Tomorrow night I'll probably sit up late and install the new seat covers. I think the interior is starting to look a lot better now than the faded and moldy mess I started with when I first got the truck. http://i127...

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

Steve,

looking forward to seeing pictures of your truck after you paint it. The side trim on your truck looks to be in great shape. In my neck of the woods the side trim was the first thing to get dinged up or torn off on these year trucks...

Keep up the good work,

Jason

Re: Another 65 Build

The last few days I managed to get the windshield and windows in along with putting on the side trim and rewiring the tail lights. Tonight I just finished removing the floor shifter and adjusting the shift linkage for the column shifter. Here's a few more pictures..... http://i1278.photobucket.com/a...

Re: side trim removal

muskrat2000, The trim on the bed and hood is pretty easy since the nuts are easily accessed. The door trim nuts are accessed by removing the door panel covers. The gas tank has to be removed to get to the cab corner nuts and the cowl trim nuts are accessed by removing the lower kick panel vent assem...

Here's a few pictures of the progress..... I hope to get the windshield and glass etc in this week and finish installing the side trim and recover the seats next week. http://i1278.photobucket.com/albums/y502/ridealong34/0804151915-00_zpsl03y15x2.jpg http://i1278.photobucket.com/albums/y502/ridealon...

Re: Another 65 Build

orangeRcode, Dust, bugs, and contamination can even make problems in paint booths. I blow and wet the floor down with water and try to paint early in the morning when wind and bugs are a non issue. I also "cut and buff" the paint after its fully cured. For me the bodywork and prep is more i...

Re: Another 65 Build

Steve,

Thanks but this heat wave is getting me burnt out. Wednesday I will try to paint the dash, console, and steering column assembly. If all goes well it will be done by the end of August.

Re: Another 65 Build

I got the block sanding done and went ahead and painted the wimbleton white on the door jambs last Thursday and the rest of the truck this morning. http://i1278.photobucket.com/albums/y502/ridealong34/0725151610-00%201_zpsskz3wtsq.jpg http://i1278.photobucket.com/albums/y502/ridealong34/0725151609-0...

Re: Dennis Carpenter, Carolina Classics, Mac's, or?

Thanks for the replies. I ordered from Dennis Carpenter this morning. Their tech guy was helpful and I liked their fixed rate shipping. I got a tracking number and my parts are supposed to arrive this Thursday.

Dennis Carpenter, Carolina Classics, Mac's, or?

I need to order a few parts tomorrow or Wednesday. Which supplier would most likely have the following in stock with decent shipping: Custom Cab windshield gasket, red driver's door arm rest, red plastic door panels, and a 65 wiring diagram? I have used Mac's in the past. Are the other guys any bett...

Re: Another 65 Build

The sign shop came through today. They printed and applied the decals to the inside of the acrylic plastic for me. They are not 100% correct but not bad either..... http://i1278.photobucket.com/albums/y502/ridealong34/0717151713-00_zpspsto0ioc.jpg I am off this weekend so I will try to get as much b...

Re: Another 65 Build

unibody madness, I got the package this afternoon. I hope to put the parts to use as soon as I paint this thing in a few weeks. Its been tough with the heat and humidity but I have managed to finish taking out the parking lot dings. I primed the areas I am working and am in the block sanding phase. ...

Re: Another 65 Build

orangeRcode, here is a photo of the back bumper you asked about. It is the white metal one. It is hollow inside and made of heavy steel. The original owner had air fittings added and was used and as air tank. The top chrome bumper in the picture is what will be going back on the truck. http://i1278....

Re: Another 65 Build

orangeRcode, I have to pull the 3spd column out of my 66 parts truck soon. I am just not ready to deal with the wasps just yet! 390fastback, I feel for you guys up there. We have rust here also but it usually depends on how well the prior owners took care of them. Then we have the Katrina and gulf c...

Re: Another 65 Build

I am still slowing chugging away on the truck. I removed the (2) cab roof lights and the accessory hood ornament. I then welded up and shaved the holes. The truck's body is in pretty good shape but does have its share of small dings here and there from being driven and used over the years. I will tr...

Re: Another 65 Build

I have been fighting bronchitis this week but I did manage to get the bed off. I got lucky and all of the bed bolts came off easy but one. I got it cut off in no time with the electric saw. http://i1278.photobucket.com/albums/y502/ridealong34/150512_0001_zpscxcjjufi.jpg http://i1278.photobucket.com/...

Re: Another 65 Build

F7BIGJOB, that switch may be for the roof lights. I will have to get behind the dash soon and follow the wires to be sure. I installed the radiator and have been driving the 65 on my property. My co-worker had a good time at the Pate swap meet. He scored me some seat covers and dropped them off yest...
