Dakota swap

Has anyone done the Dakota front suspension swap and then bagged it? Can it lay frame on the stock Dakota spindles?

Long bed

I’ve got a good long bed that I’d be willing to sell. I’m in the process of getting my 63 bagged and I’ve obviously got to cut the floor out of the bed. I’ve got a spare bed so I figured I’d offer the good bed up for sale before I preceded with chopping it apart. Tailgate is rough. Floor is rusty bu...

Re: Making power out of a 302

I just got an eldebrock 2121 manifold today. I’ll look into cams and carbs soon. Is there any factory heads that are better than the others I can look for at the u pull it yards?

Making power out of a 302

I just scored a good 1968 302 for my 63. Anyone care to share any cheap and easY ways to wake this engine up a bit? Budget is fairly tight for now so try to keep that in mind.

Re: Headlight switch

Tom, Sounds like a rewire may be in the works here! That would be my choice as well. Actually, I would use a later bump switch to allow park lamps to remain on with headlamps. In some cases, that involves relocating the retainer groove on the knob and shaft. One would need both applicable pin-outs....

Headlight switch

Anyone have a detailed diagram or pic of which pin is what on a 63 headlight switch. Wiring a new one in without any reference from an old one is harder than you’d think. Please and thank you.

Steering columns

Working on my Dakota swap and truck is no where near me. Can someone give me a quick length and width measurement of a 63 steering column so I can order one tonight?

Headlight switch wiring

Please forgive my ignorance for electrical work but the light switch on my 63 is kicking my butt. I've read the wiring diagrams and I've found the hot in and the headlight out. Beyond that I can't find a single hot post on the thing. I'm doing all this with the switch just hanging there. Does the sw...

Wire clean up ideas?

My wife just ordered me a rebel 9+3 universal wiring harness for my slick. I'm pumped to get to work on it when it comes but in the mean time I'm trying to think of ways to clean up the wires in the engine bay. I hate the look of that plastic cover crap and I'm not to big of a fan of electrical tape...

Lower the back of my 63

What's the best way to lower the back of my slick. Remove leaves? Spring under axle? Spring perch flip? In the future I'm going to bag the whole truck but until then I want it lower. Any experiences with any of these methods? Tips or tricks?

Re: Tires

Thanks. I think in gonna go with bias plys. My truck is more of a past time money pit then a daily driver. I might put 250 miles a year on it. I just love tinkering and modifying it.

Anyone running bias ply tires on their slick? Looking for some white walls and I noticed that bias plys are quite a bit cheaper that radials. Pros/cons anyone?

Re: Tuning my carb?

I did find a bad carb gasket. Fixed that but that didn't help the wild idle. Some time it idles really high and I tap the gas pedal and she calms down to normal. Any ideas on this?

Tuning my carb?

Ive been getting my 63 road worthy lately but the carb is stumping me. I'll admit I do t have a clue what I'm doing when it comes to working with carbs. My truck will run and drive it will only drive decent when the choke is closed. When opened it idles rough and inconsistent and will back fire. It'...

What's up guys. I'm Jacob. I just bought my second slick. I had one several years ago and I sold it. I've missed it terribly Ever since. I found one in the LA, Ca area and had it shipped to me in Omaha, Ne. My plans are to do a Dakota ifs swap and drop it on airbags. Clean up the few small rust hole...
