Returning to Slicks

After being away from these trucks for over ten years I am glad to be back. I am looking to pick up a 66 F100, 4x2, 300/3 Spd column (checking it out tomorrow). I want to build a 460/C6 to install so what perches (where to get them) do I need, what cross member do I need for the transmission? Not su...

So now the truck is becoming a mystery! I think the mileage is correct, since the U joints are Spicer brand. The trans code states "D" but the stamp on the trans is W G DIV T88B 148 But the tag on the trans says: C5T4G I am getting confused! The front axle does NOT have any screws in the h...

Are you talking about the hubs that lock? If so mine are original and they have a tab thru the center that folds out into a handle and rotates around then folds back in. I will take some pics and try to post them. When I posted pics previously it was easy now it sounds complicated. Thanks again for ...

Ice, you rock. Thanks. So the axle is a Dana 60? The tag on it states: C5TA-VT 2815-1 4.56 FRONT TAG: C6TA-BB 2376-6 4.56 I am trying to buy diff gaskets, and pinion seals but the local parts store does not stock them! I am sure that later years would fit. Thanks again. David

4x4 shocks

I want to replace the shocks on the 66 F250 4x4 and just wanted to know what you other 4x4 guys/gals use. Used on the highway and occasionally off road (nothing serious). Just looking for a good shock with decent ride-ability! Thanks.

T-case gaskets

Before I put it back together; should I use a gasket sealer on the gaskets before I put them on? Thanks. David

Sounds like a good time. If I come from San Antonio, should I trailer my 66 F250 4x4? Is this a place to sell trucks too, or just parts? I would drive mine there but it does not get the best mileage. Thanks.

Will do that this Friday. Have to pick up another puller as I watched the bolt head twist and not the rest of the bolt! I will let you know if it works out for me. Thanks.

Pulling the steering wheel

So I attempted to pull the steering wheel off the other day and it will NOT budge. I removed the nut, applied the wheel puller and turned with no success. It is a 66 F250 4x4 with the 3spd column shift. Any ideas on how to break her free? Thanks.

Guys, thanks for the input, I appreciate it. Dan and Brian, what size pipe did you wind up going with? Now after reading more input from this forum and inline6 I will run the split Ford exhaust and merge into one (like Brian) then into a muffler (not sure which brand yet; I do not want to run into c...

96 split exhaust

I am cleaning up the 96 split exhaust manifolds and down pipes that I bought, so now how should I run the exhaust? Should I do true dual exhaust 2 1/4 with an "X" or "H" pipe or should I merge into a single muffler with single/dual outs? The motor is a 66 240. Prior to completing...

Brian, please let your friend know that I WILL buy the clifford from him. Is that the 43-4502 that he has? I have a friend that lives in Midlothian and he is a firefighter/paramedic. I am not really trying to sell the truck, but I post it so my wife will leave me alone about it. With that said, she ...

That looks like a fun yard to visit. Where are you at? I am in San Antonio (Ft Sam Houston). I like the pics of your Clifford set up, that is what I am planning to buy next. I could just go buy the intake but momma would give me the eye! I saw the pic of the bumper but what I do not like about most ...

salvage yard

So today I made it to the salvage yard here in San Antonio (did not see one slick) I found a set of split exhaust manifolds with down pipes, two 16" steel rims with nice tires. I also found two rear bumpers from two different F250s (one a 77 and one newer) Will have to go back after I measure t...

Thanks, I did rebuild it recently and it was dong just fine, until this morning! I know another rebuild kit is only about $15. Brian, I was looking for an intake for a 300 with a carb but I have been interested in the Offie/Clifford for awhile now. I plan to keep my I6 so maybe now is the time to ju...

manifold and carb set up

So I finally decided to drive her(truck) to work today, and wouldn't you know it the carb began to leak! Symptom: like someone is pouring gas over the top of the carb, just flowing out of it! Solution: buy a newer intake manifold and carb set up from a newer 300. Question: what will fit my 66 240 I6...

Anthony, I like the choice of rims! I like the white, but I want to stay around 12.5 for the width. I like the plain steel rims too, but I need the time to go find some!
