Georgia Gang

Well not anymore, but I do still run Georgia tags on my slick, at least until the local Coppers get me! :) Welcome this is really the best "Slick" site anywhere!

Brake Upgrade

If I had a truck with a new booster and MC, I'd solve the problem with brake pull and call it good. I am guessing you have a dual chamber MC with Drum/Drum brakes? Just work on the pulling problem and enjoy your old truck. Boosted drum/drum systems are good for street driven trucks and with the dual...

Fresh Air vents

I'd keep the vents. They are the only way to clean out the lower cowl area. If this area gets packed with debris it will rust your truck.

Cowel paint and rust proofing

After I weld the rust damage I currently have I will use OSPHO poured into the lower cowel areas. After that dries I'll cover it with POR-15 and clean out any debris that collects in the lower cowel during my monthly truck wash.

Las Vegas

I'm just up I-15 in St. George. What are you doing for work in Vegas? Let me know if you get up this way and we can have a beer. I am not home until after the new year but then I'll get started in earnest on my next slick project. Planning on a short 66 with 460 and C6.

Boosted brakes on a 64

I would get the catalog from MC Brakes (its more of a manual than a catalog). And if I were doing a straight axle truck I'd buy their kit for disk conversion and MC setup. Actually boosted drum/drum is a good system and they have a cheaper MC setup for that. IMHO!

Brake pedal for an automatic slick

This is soooo not difficult! Remove the pedal support from your 65. Remove the wider power brake pedal from a 70's F series pickup. Shorten the pivot on the newer pedal arm (hacksaw) and re-instal using the pin and bushings of your choice. The clutch and brake pedal support for 65-66 F series automa...

Southern Trucks

are all over around here. Check out craigslist.org for Atlanta and if you find something you like in the area I'll inspect it for you. Seems to me that Atlanta prices are high but that may be my Yooper accent. I get this "y'al ain't from 'round here are ya" crap all the time. A couple of w...

Nice looking old Ford

Be fun to install a big 460 with C6 and leave the rest as is! Imagine the look when you pass some SUV at 75 or so on the freeway! Well maybe some disk brakes and shocks and tires first. But leave the paint "rat rod". IMHO!

And if you want to give that poor old switch a well deserved break add a 20 amp relay in the circuit to do the work and save your switch.

I for one am glad about your re-starting production on a real crossmember for trucks. Stout with available aftermarket and OEM parts doesn't get any better than that.

Cab for sale

It appears to me that this is a fairly rust free cab and that floor panel on the drivers side has been replaced. I can see the welds on the shot of the cab support. The raw welds are visible. An $800.00 reserve is way high and if he gets it I am going into the used cab business.

I'd Pass on this one!

Personal preference, but, twin I-Beam trucks look the same and are a heck of a lot easier to improve. Engine options with Ford mounts and brackets are about unlimited. If you select a later 351 or 460 even AOD is available. I don't get too excited about OTM engines since they can come out as quickly...

Clean the vent with a drill!

Yup! Run a small 1/16th drill bit right through that sucker, then hook a rubber hose to the top of the vent and hang it up under the bed. End of problem! There was a rubber hose on there in the beginning, it rotted and fell off, dirt got in the vent, vent is stuck/rusted shut! Sometimes you can knoc...

Shift Arm on an AOD

Having recently done a similiar conversion on a couple of C6 transmissions, I would agree with FBP! Vans with AOD have a shift arm that should work for your application or maybe a shift arm from a regular truck C6 would fit. You can notch the crossmember but besides being ugly, it may jam when the e...
