Chris,
Nice write up with pictures! That oil drain plug looks not-so-handy though!

I hope you update your progress! :thumright:

I´m surprised the brake line going to the rear axle still fit with the rear being moved that far back.

Did the West Coast Jr. mirrors have a smaller mirror, less bracketry or what?

Sounds pretty tall and wide to run up front - likely will rub when you make a tight turn, BWF.

They likely would be fine on the rear though..........

17-18 mpg @ 65mph with that tarped load..... that's pretty good in my book!

The radial tires will reduce the rolling resistance some, but those big western mirrors don't make it real 'slippery in the wind'.

I decided to spin up my oil pressure this morning and thought I'd see what you guys think. I started off spinning it with a speed wrench by hand and could feel the pressure come up pretty quickly. I could hear the oil bubbling up and the front rockers showed oil within 10 seconds or so. I continued...

Received my Hedman headers from Jegs yesterday, quick delivery! I'm not sure if they were damaged in transit, but I was expecting to have then completely coated with silver ceramic, not with big scratches down to bare metal. I can't say I'd be happy with all those scratches either........ I'd at le...

Re: Spare tire?

A spare tire was an OPTION for our Slicks when purchased new in '61-'66. IF the truck was ordered with an optional spare, the usual location was under the bed at the rear. I never cared for that location as it seemed to collect mud, stones, etc. Folks who do have the under bed mount should remove th...

Concerning ordinary FEs, all 2 & 4v intakes 66 and older have the same large intake ports. The exception was the 66 C6AE-G GT intake, it had the 67 and up small intake ports. Hi Chris, Do you know if the FoMoCo FE 4V cast-iron intake manifold C7AE-9425-E (also known as the "S" intake)...

David, If you are going to go to headers, I would suggest you also outfit your starter with some sort of heat shield.... if not, you'll be cooking and changing your starter more often than you'd like to be..... review this thread: http://www.slick60s.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=26179&p=225754&am...
