Re: "Snap-On Tools Slick Shop Truck"
Unique steering wheel...not too gaudy, still big enough to turn it.

Re: Who has/had a S197 Mustang?
The SVO is really a car unto itself; drove one once when they were nearly new and scared myself! Troublesome to get parts for now as they are so different from 'normal' Mustangs.
Oddly, saw one parked on the street in the city today, apparently someone's DD!

What did he get for it? Those things don't seem to sell for what you think they should.

Re: Who has/had a S197 Mustang?
I come from a road racing perspective, which is why the Fox chassis suspension is so maligned. You can't simply lower them without screwing up the dynamics; those things weren't 'made' to be lowered, so you have to replace all kinds of stuff to make it work correctly. It costs thousands to 'make rig...

Re: Who has/had a S197 Mustang?
There is an unofficial, no-handshake agreement that we would both have Mustangs by the time we turn 50. As usual, Wayne beat me by a long shot. I used to want a notchback Fox, but my wife feels they are so tremendously ugly she wouldn't be seen in one. Coupled with the Worst Suspension Eve...

Appears to be just ignitor kit and coil. Same tired distributor with seized vacuum advance pipe since it was built, apparently.

Who has/had a S197 Mustang?
My pursuit of a vintage Falcon may go on hold. I'm rethinking my garage situation a bit and am questioning the wisdom of buying another vintage vehicle when I already have a nearly 50 year old truck I haven't been lavishing much affection on. Since the S197 came out in 2005 I've had a burning lust f...

Re: Info on the 'Pertronics' ignition system.............
Lots of high tech wizardry being discussed here. My :2cents: ... Big Red came with a Pertronix already installed (the P.O. was fuel economy obsessed...can't imagine why he bought a Slick). It's been in the truck for at least 10 years. Never a hiccup. I've left the ignition 'on' occasionally to do di...

Here's how I look at it...anything that is reversible is fair game. Changing drive trains, wheels, brake systems, etc is no big thing on these trucks. Nuts and bolts...you can always return it to stock if that spirit moves you. And, go with the time proven stuff that isn't a trend. Wild graphics wen...

Re: Any Packard Guys Out There?
Even as a kid just reading books about old cars, I fell for the Packard mystique long ago. "Ask the man who owns one" may be the best advertising slogan ever. These cars were stately, well constructed, and had an air of success and dignity shared by few others of their time. I even like th...

Re: 66 f100 master cylinder
Just an FYI guys: When I took off the rubber lines on my 63, they had absorbed so much water that there was barely a pin hole for the fluid to pass through. If you are do this much work, replace the rubber lines! Yep, I've lived that too. When I bought Big Red, I thought "I know the brakes on ...

Reason #1 to ditch the single pot m/c's on these trucks. Originality be damned; it you can't stop the thing, no one will care how original it is.

Re: Help me add another Ford to my garage
Update: Been shopping for the elusive '69 since the fall. Lots of project cars, but very few nicely done ones. Prices are all over the place; these guys that want $15,000 need to talk to the guys who can't sell theirs for $5000. They simply aren't popular. I did find a flock of three for sale, with ...

Re: Carlisle ALL-FORD
Thom emptied my wallet like a good vendor should. :) Nice weather today. Don't think there were any Slicks on the show field. About four for sale, all absurdly overpriced including the one I posted in Truck Talk. Got a Edelbrock manifold for the 352. Much easier to carry out of the flea market than ...

What is the most ever asked for a Slick?
I may have found the answer today at Ford Carlisle... https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/5599_10151840479256055_654225177_n.jpg Beautiful truck. Coating headers: worth it?
I have a set of Hooker headers for my truck that I would like to install. (Yes, I know all about the starter getting roasted). They are new in the box, but just painted black. I'm not interested in them looking sexy so much as I want them to last a good long time. My truck sits in the garage, and ge...

I feel pardoned now. If Iceman can have the problem, and not have a solution, then I won't feel bad about letting the wiper beat itself to death on the windshield molding.

Re: wiper arm location problem
I have ONE wiper arm that refuses to not whack the bottom windshield molding. I've replaced part, pulled off and reset the arm multiple times and it continues to THWACK, THWACK the molding at the base of the windshield.
