Re: 65 Stepside "Dust N Rust"

Hey TJ, Yes I have been so busy lately that I barely have time to even stop and look at my poor truck, But yes i was able to push it out in the driveway and give it a spray and it did make a huge difference, The amount of dirt and rust and "not needed" screws and nuts and bolts that came o...

Re: 65 Stepside "Dust N Rust"

Hey Everyone, Ok Not much has been happening just a little bit of an update. So unlike most people that do the CV ifs swap, i actually like the 17inch steel wheels, although i think they could use some paint I dont think they are half bad, at the same time im not saying i dont like mustang wheels. T...

Re: 65 Stepside "Dust N Rust"

Thank you April. Ive just started putting the front end back together and needless to say it hasnt been fun. Im very grateful another member on this forum gave me his old core support. When i took the front end off i literally had to cut every single bolt out because they were so rusted it just snap...

Re: 65 Stepside "Dust N Rust"

Here a better picture of what the rear drop will get you. This is with the truck level. Granted it doesnt have the wheels on the front ive put it on jack stands where it should sit once loaded on the ground. It is pretty low, that spare tire in the picture will not slide under the frame. I didnt wan...

Re: 65 Stepside "Dust N Rust"

Thank you Custumcab66. If I had to do it again I'd definitely go solid axle in the rear with some type of 4link coilover setup. Either way it was a really good learning experience. I refused to buy the prefabbed kits some guy in Florida sells for $400.

Re: 65 Stepside "Dust N Rust"

Hey everyone, So its been a long time since ive given any kind of update. Its been a rather busy half a year since my last posts. After I flipped my rear axle last December i decided to go a different route. After doing the CV ifs swap i decided why not have IRS! Disclaimer: Although I am happy with...

Re: Hot rod Garage new project

Very easy only thing is it cost $5 a month but in my opinion it is very well worth it more car shows than you can imagine and they aren't like the reality ones either they make mistakes and show you how they fix them

Hot rod Garage new project

Hey everyone, For those that do not know whatHot rod garage is all about, it is basically staff from hot rod magazine buying projects and working on them just like magazine tech articles but it's for the internet. I've been watching there shows like roadkill and hot rod garage for years now. Well th...

Re: Crown Vic Swap T-45 or TR-3650?

I believe they are both cable clutch although it's very common to modify them to hydraulic clutches. Unless you have a 4 valve 4.6 like orangeRcode then I believe there is clearance issues, in mustangs that is. A few years back I did it to my previous mustang and it worked great although can't say t...

Re: CV steering stop.

Well damn..feel pretty stupid about this one haha. I'm sure those that have done this swap are probably laughing at me. I mounted the sway bar to the frame about an inch to far forward. Thank god it was something I can easily fix. After stairing at it for about two hours, taking wheels off ,checking...

CV steering stop.

Ok I'm a little stumped right now. So have the CV ifs completely installed moving on to steering. So counted the splines on the steering shaft to make sure before I buy some u joints. Got the truck completely off the ground with stands on all four corners went to take a look at the ball joints and m...

Re: CV ifs 460

Ok I'll look into the springs. I'm sure every little bit of help from weight saving and overall capacity will go a long way. I had a plan to orginally do a small block and knew I was going to make some simple motor that just came right out of the CV motor mount pedistals but now there's to much weig...

CV ifs 460

Happy new year everyone. I just put the finishing touches on the CV ifs and everything is good to go now it's time to focus on engine and trans. So I had orginally planned to do a small block/ C6 or C4. Something simple and something that I know a lot of people have done. Well of course plans change...

Re: P71 Crown Vic values?

Agreed. It took me a very long and patient 7 months to find a CV front end that wasn't $600. I lucked out and found a farmers kid in BFE Missouri parting out his CV and had no idea what I was talking about. The prices around here (st. Louis) are pretty ridiculous too. To had insult to injury a few o...

Re: Crown Vic ifs install question

Ok i have some pics to help explain what im trying to say http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r640/Matyneib/trailing%20arm4_zpsrpdpsma9.jpg Ok so this is the bracket and bushing straight off a CV held in the orientation it is mounted to the frame. Notice the slot in the bushing is horizontal. If the...

I'll try to explain it has best as possible and again I want to reiterate I'm not saying I'm right or anyone else is wrong. I'm a firm believer in doing what works best for you. There's a thousand ways to skin a cat...I'm just stating what my opinion is and I could be wrong. Ok so on an unmolested c...

Re: '62 tbird drivetrain

Sounds pretty cool. When I bought my 65 the PO swapped in a 351m which I know doesn't really help with your question but it did have an FMX behind it and I believe that was the same if not similar to your newly acquired transmission. Either way I believe they are the same size and it was mounted to ...

Re: Crown Vic ifs install question

I went ahead and welded it all up last night. I used 3/16" plate for the bracket base then 3/16 for the gussets also. Turned out really nice though very strong but I wouldn't be surprised if I had to go back like jim said. As far as measurements go I just let it sit naturally under the frame. A...

Crown Vic ifs install question

Hey everyone. So to keep it short and simple I'm most of they way through installing the ifs but I have run into one little snag. For those that have done this, when you get ready to weld up the brackets to the frame for the trailing arm bushings what is the proper distance between them? I've looked...
