how to get my mechanic to install my motor after 4 months
My new 351 and my truck have been at a mechanics shop for 4 months and there has been no movement other than removing the old engine. I visit the shop every 2-3 weeks and it has come to apoint where they wont look me in the eye when i visit. I know the mechanic, but he has become distant. Other cars...

Everyone who has changed out a turn signal switch..........
is it possible to change the turn signal switch in a 3 on the tree column without disassembling the column? My 1966 is my no kidding daily driver and I want to avoid taking it out of commission for too many days. Although I never did a switch replacment before, I have pulled my steering wheel a doze...

Brake lights only work if...
My brake lights only work if I manually keep the turn signal lever "centered" (it wants to fall a little below center due to gravity and age). If I center it or if I wiggle it slightly around the centered position it will work. If I neglect to do this, either only one or neither of my brak...

Re: Tracking
I think I learned from this site that when Ford went to the Twin-I beam in 65 they front track was widened. (It just kind of worked out that way wne they did the front suspension). However, the rear axle width fron the 1961-64 trucks was kept the same. This wasn't "corrected" until 1973. I...

Slick's for sale @ Spring Carlisle (pics added!)
Ive been going to Carlisle 2-3 time a year for about 10 years now and this is the most Slicks I have ever seen in the car corral. I counted 10 (2 of which were 250s) whereas in past years there were 1-2. Not sure why there was such an up-surge. Please see the first 4 pictures in my album (cosmo) for...

Need Stock rear axle measurements
Hi all, for reasons to embarassing to detail, I gooned-up all 5 wheel studs on my 66 F100 and therefore teh stud plate is destroyed. I need a new rear axle. I have a a standard 9" 28-spline open rear, 3.70 gears, std F100 width for 1966 (not the 1967 and up width). I discovered that Curri...

Speaker installation in the cab
Hi all, I wanted to install 2 speakers in my cab but I dont want to pefrom any irreversable sheet metal surgery to do it. I got my factory radio upgraded to AM/FM so there is no dash cutting required. I saw someone on this iste made under-the seat-boxes, but looking at my truck I cant imagine where ...

Re: A chance to set LMC straight
They chose to go to overseas suppliers... so their quality and therefore their market share will suffer.
Some of us prefer to have an option to buy American. They probably dont care as long as their profit margin is respectable.

Perfect Timing Blackwaterforge! I have no break lights and I need to do this ASAP. I have a question or two. Your picture is not clear to me especially when I compare it to Iceman's. You both mention using the slot for the rubber stop. Looking at Iceman's pics, which are out to the truck, where shou...

Verdict is still out
I got lucky and the guy who built the engine came over and we checked the valve train. Everything looked good no loose rockers , bent pushrods, plugs looked good. Compression looked good. oil pressure good.
His thought maybe a collapsed lifter. I'll look at the oil tomorrow

Thanks for the advice
Looks like a busy thanksgiving weekend for me
Understand looking for metal in the oil.
What am I looking for in the valve train? Should it obvious or subtle?

Need engine Help! Rod knock??..spun bearing??
I'm not an engine expert, but my engine started making a loud hammering noise while cruising and deceling for the last traffic light on my way home. It was louder than any ticking I have ever heard. I slipped it out of gear and the hammering decreased with rpm. It would barely idle at the traffic li...

Hub-cap refurb
I usually switch over to my stock steel rims and standard small hubcaps for the winter months. I have the original 66 painted caps and i wanted to re-furbish them. I'm trying to get a stock looking appearance on the red indents around the FORD label. Has any one created a stencil or know how I can c...
