Re: Fords big news ... only two cars !
Ford probably is just trimming out the loss leaders. To meet emissions standards, a bunch of vehicles that few desire are produced and sold at a low price to offset the emissions of the desired vehicles which also command a higher price to cover the difference in revenue. In the long run, it may mak...

I liked the looks of the Econoline hubcaps (E-250 & E-350) from the 90's through 2000's.

Re: USB to test gauges - in my case a fuel gauge.
The fuel tank sending unit can be taken apart to get to the resistor and metal tang.
Some cleaning with steel wool on the resistor wire and and the metal tang, along with slightly bending the tang fixed my gauge.

Re: Stainless steel fuel lines
I also used the brake line kit from Inline Tube. Went with the plain steel and everything went in really well.
I haven't replaced the fuel lines nor do I need to. However, if Inline Tube makes the fuel line kit, that's the one I'd go with.

Re: Stock style master cylinder
Hmm. Don't like to read such news... I used the same master cylinder when I went through my brakes this spring. The Cardone Select replaced an original master cylinder that I had rebuilt in the early 90's (and had probably been rebuilt at least once prior). If you have your original master cylinder,...

Re: Ford 223 "Mileage Maker" gas mileage
My first drive after the swap was a truck load from SC to NY, all highway, at about 65 MPH the whole way. Quite a road trip. Unloaded ought to bring on even a little better mileage. Before the 55 mph speed limit changed in the 1990's, I was able to get 20 mph a few times highway driving with the 22...

Re: Carb Troubles Autolite 1100
I'm not real good with diagnosis over the computer, but throwing a few things at you... the carb I have on there is an Autolite 1100 which (after some googling) I've decided probably came from a 1964 Galaxie. (The number on the carb reads C4TFE, but I'm assuming it's the same as the C3AFA) The 1100 ...

On Styleside trucks - 1964-1972 tailgates will fit. The 1967-72 stamping is slightly different, but the tailgate fits and functions the same as the earlier tailgate.

Re: Autolite 1101 rebuild questions
I don't think either of the damaged areas would cause any problems. The circle casting at the accelerator pump is there to help enter the diaphragm spring. If it's too banged up to seat the spring, you might file on it a bit to allow the spring to seat. The area in the venturi also shouldn't pose an...

Re: The move casualty
The joys of moving. Moves with my job have included a relocation package - some of the packers have been super careful and others were just horrible. During the last move, I stopped the packers from just jamming painted metal beer signs into a box of gardening tools. Then there were label issues - o...

Thank you for the complement, my '64 is a Texas truck that spent most of its' life as the family farm truck.

Re: Air Conditioning
I've seen pics with an underdash unit that was a ford dealer install item like I had in a Mustang. Anyone have experience with those? My experience with underdash units (and most aftermarket units) is they work sufficiently well to cool the cab. It wouldn't be dissimilar to the cooling on a 60's Mu...
