The way you did it IS much easier, I just don't want to mess with my step wells. I still like the 04 crn vic crossmember but I can get a whole running and driving (read as donor driveline + alot of useable stuff) 80s crn vic for the same $ as the 04 crossmember. Has anybody thought of doing a subfr...

Mike, you have a pic of the frame without the cab on it? Kinda wonderin about narrowing just the section between the suspension turn ins on the frame. Might even be able to mix it with the stock truck frame to make mounts easy.

That sounds cool! A Shelby Uni? May be a cool to see JC's ultra rare Holman Moody Nascar Uni parked by it at SS08. JC's truck won the 1964 Crapman truck series, I think it was driven by a guy named Bob Square something. I'll see if I can find that picture of it with the pit crew.

I have used the heavier gear lube up here in the midwest with no cold weather issues. But then you gotta figure a 40+ year old tranny may have a little more clearance in it than a new one. :?

It should be fine, the EFI engines (late 80s thru 90s that had this tranny) have different cylinder heads but "late" style Windsors started in 1982 I believe (may still bolt up to an early Windsor, flywheel would be the issue there). The only real fabrication issue you should have involve...

Pete treated me right with the dealings I've had with him. Comes off a tad coarse but when I talked to him on the phone he was actually a pretty cool guy.

My vote would be the 4X4 uni, with maybe about 8" of lift and a set of 36.5s?

Post a pic when you get it, I'll be putting one up of mine as soon as Rose's daughter is home (she has a digital camera) and the car is clean at the same time (had alot of rain lately), lol.

For a lower ride height you can notch the frame and then box it just like with any other front end swap. I agree that it looks like it will be low enough just set right on the frame, I hope that will set mine down where I want it. It looks like I could set the crossmember under the front end for a ...

As for placement I would put on my front clip (or at least the fenders) and line it up in the front wheelwells. You could also use the bumpstop on your frame lined up with the spindles for a stock location. Alot of people believe that a lowered straight axel truck looks better with the front wheels...

Here is a pic gallery from FTE (dare I say that here?) that shows the install. You could probably modify the column from the vic but there are plenty of options on columns. http://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gallery ... umid=16991

Adding towers to the frame for a windsor wouldn't be that tough, I don't know if the crossmember has towers on it. Building MM towers would be a better setup than a adaptor crossmember anyway, less clutter on the chassis. JC's Uni has a similar setup.

The best option is to box the frame in the front and use the crossmember from a 04 or newer crown victoria police car. It has an aluminum crossmember, power rack & pinion, tubular upper & lower control arms, and get this, after you box your frame it bolts on! They seem to go for about $500,...
