Re: 64' M5OD 5.0 install - whose done it?

FYI
As soon as I get the part numbers I'll post this in Hints and Tricks but if you're using the hydraulic clutch on an M5, Parker Hannifin makes push in fittings for the plastic hoses and also sells unmolded hose so you can custom plumb your hydraulic lines.

Re: 3 carb

Mike. First, I changed my squirters from the 50cc units to the standard 30cc's and I'm currently running a 58 jet on the center carb and 62's on the ends. I'm not running a heavy carb, but I do have 10:1 flat tops. It seems to like this setup on the street. Mike Bratland suggested 62/67-68 but that ...

Re: 3 carb

First, what are the list numbers on the carbs?
Center carb is the only one with a power valve. I can save you a lot of time, money and aggravation on jet sizes too.
Been there, done that.

Re: Chrome bumper question

What about the layer of nickel that the chromers lay down as a surface for the chrome?
That stuff is hard and slick (sic).
I'm wondering how you'd scuff that hard surface and/ or if you would have to use a special primer to get the paint to stick.

Chrome bumper question

Can bumpers be de-chromed enough to accept paint?
I'm wondering about the nickle finish they put on as a base for the actual chrome. Nickle is really hard and slick.
Anyone have any experience with that?

Re: Input on truck color

Rich, you don't like Tweety? I'm crushed....... Actually, I was a little skeptical at first but that yellow grows on you. Tweety might be a little bright for this truck, but the '64 (Mustang) daffodil yellow and white makes a very nice combination on a truck and you sure don't see one on every stree...

Re: "Brake-Upgrade"

Shadow. The brake master cylinder is a direct bolt on for the straight axle trucks. The only possible issue is the push rod, and different lengths are available from the junk yard, and I'm pretty sure somebody makes an adjustable one. Personally, I would use a Willwood manually adjustable proportion...

Re: exhaust tip opinions please

Kevin. I like the gang style square honey comb tips like are used on Sprint Cup cars and would french them in and exit them on the outsides edge of the roll pan (just inside the tailgate hinges) or just behind the rear tires. Mine exit just in front of the tires under my flair side steps, but when y...

Re: "13-Inches Of Snow"

Snow?
I live in Texas. We don't need no stinking snow.
And we don't have to shovel heat.
We do, however, in the summertime, require either massive amounts of global warming (cooling) or lots of air conditioning. 8)

Re: PurpleFlyingMonkey electric window upgrade

Kevin. Another thing is the centering of the motor shaft in the old window register hole. The motor shaft us smaller than the mechanical crank and gear. I used a plastic straw as a bushing to make everything center up. Actually, I think you could leave the plastic in the hole as a bushing.

Re: 64 Tweety Bird

Finished the door preassembly today. The arm rest and custom latch are in and the PFM electric window is done. The panels, including the kick panel where the speakers will go are ready to be covered and once that's done, we will finish final assembly of the doors, install the weatherstripping and wi...

Re: PurpleFlyingMonkey electric window upgrade

Guys, here is the difference between the original metal case motors and the replacement plastic motors. You can plainly see why the replacements won't work. But I also found another difference in the metal case motors. The motor shaft in the metal case motors that the gear mounts on can be different...

Re: 64 Tweety Bird

More progress. Besides almost finishing the radio/ stereo wiring and installation, we stabbed the distributor and then opened up the new box of goodies. A billet arm rest with built in door handles and electric window switches. This thing is awesome. Daryl is cutting out a panel to insert where the ...

Re: When bad things happen to good cars

Most of those, if not all of them, can be attributed to the old "high performance car/ low performance driver" syndrome. Nobody under the age of 35 who ever watched Fast and Furious should not be allowed to own cars like this.

Re: PurpleFlyingMonkey electric window upgrade

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you. Look at the case corners where the mounting bolts are. We had to flatten the corners so the motor case would center in the bracket properly and you can see where I had to grind them off to fit.
It was easier than making two more cutouts in the frame.

PurpleFlyingMonkey electric window upgrade

Daryl and I just finished the upgrade and it is sooooo easy. But I have two observations. 1. The replacement electric motors will NOT work because the plastic case is to big to fit in the restricted area where the motor goes even with the V-cut. The gear pivot has to center where the old hand crank ...

Re: 64 Tweety Bird

Daryl got some more work done this weekend but proved once again that things do not always go as planned. He mounted the carburetor so I can start fabricating the linkage, but the master power booster is in the way of the air cleaner. Anybody need a new air cleaner while we shop for a replacement th...
