shaking

You said you replaced the points, but if the gap is too wide it could cause the shaking when your engine is running. I am not saying that's what it is, just an idea from what you described. Might want to take a look at the harmonic balancer and see what shape it is in. Again, just thoughts I had on...

snapped bolt

Well Jim, that sounds like it might work, unless it breaks again. Might want to shoot some penetrating oil around it (aresol type) and then with the nut welded on, go easy on it back and forth and see if it will loosen up some. I have an FE head with 3 exhaust manifold bolts broken off in it, so I ...

Too Freakin Hot

We've had triple digits here for over 30 days, and and the occasional cooling off, 99 or less. Lived here about all my life except for a year in S. Florida some 30 plus years ago. Humidity there wasn't much worse, but it wasn't as hot either. I lived on the gulf coast in Clearwater, so it was real ...

new chat room

Sorry I missed it Sunday. Wife wanted me to take her to dinner, so we did that instead. I was wanting to hear lots of SS 06 stories, but alas, it was not to be.

Poll

What Tim said about IFS is true. MII is for lightweight street rods, not heavy trucks with big heavy engines. Aftermarket IFS has gone way past that. I have been researching a lot of the manufacturers in business now who make some setups a lot nicer than what was offered 10 years ago. With the new s...

66 F 100 ready for inspection

Looks great to me. Glad to see another Slick back out on the road.
Is that a Gun Metal Metallic Gray on it? Almost looks like a 4 x 4.
Great job, man.

suspension poll

Personnally speaking, a single I or Twin I are the most rugged suspensions out there. Ford ran 'em from the beginning up to 65 and then the twins from 65 to 97 when they went to IFS. With some tweaking here and there you can make them do about anything you want. You can even put power steering on th...

Dell burns up a 66 Slick

Yeah, I saw that on the news last night. Bad news for the Dude and his Truck. Couldn't have been some worthless Chxxxy that got torched. Oh no, but a fellow Slick owner. And yes, a condolence sent to him would be a nice gesture. Don't know how we would find out who he is unless someone knows what ne...

From what I have seen, putting in a 460 in a 66 should be a walk in the park. There seems to be an issue with the oil pan on that swap, and you might need to put a rear sump pan on it. Means you would have to use the oil pump and pickup tube to work with it. Now, the best source I know for this inf...

Banjopicker probably has what you are looking for in a manual.
He was working with some folks to get shop manuals on CD.

campers

I have had my eyes open for an old Airstream Trailer for some time now. Back in the late 60s and Early 70s when I was driving 18 wheelers I saw them everywhere. They seemed to be very stable in windy conditions going down the highway (hence the name) and were pulled by just about any vehicle except ...

I am glad to see this list on here so I don't end up with a problem like that. I have been changing them over to disc on my trucks as I get to them, but not everyone loves disc brakes like I do yet, so at least with this information, I can keep myself from trying to use the wrong parts. Thanks for t...

Whatever the guy has hiding in that scoop, it must be too tall for the hood
he was running, but that one is a lot more aero than what I ran back in the day. Bitchin Truck, would love to see that one make some passes. :D [/i][/b]
