Re: Which hood should I try to repair?
I would repair both. I never understand ruining one part to repair another, Its a fair point, provided they are both worth salvaging however. The hood I used for 'parts' was toast from a collision, so not salvagable. Using 'good' metal from a donor does make repairs easier though IMO, especially wi...

Re: Which hood should I try to repair?
Mine was exactly the same as your original on one side. I had cut pieces out of a decent hood and had them welded in by a body shop (I can't weld good enough!) you would never know it's even had a repair. The other option is you could take the corner of your original hood and maybe repair the dent i...

Re: Hey Alan or other Australian members
I'm way down south so it's a long way from me, Alan and John are a little closer but still far enough away. It's done a fair bit of damage to a beautiful part of australia, but so far the people up that way are safe. I haven't heard of any major injury which is astonishing considering how destructiv...

Re: Australians MIA
All good mate, the slick went to the mechanics for a small oil leak in the manifold...... The manifold was seized on as was the distributor (which is now in 6 pieces) and has taken them 5 days to fully remove. Haven't got the bill yet but I know the billet distributor was $500 alone...... :s...

Re: driveline 63' Ford
My 62 was an automatic converted from a column shift by the previous owner. The 62 still had all the linkage points on the column (engine side) but all the linkage between the column and the transmission had simply been removed. When the automatic transmission was fitted, they cut a hole in the tran...

Re: 1966 f100 with bronco instrument cluster
Id suggest sticking with the amount of teeth on the one you had (4 speed). The internal part of the cluster should be the same and it would be the gear that you want to replace that changes the internal speed of the speedometer. Count how many teeth are on the one you have, and replace with that.The...

Re: Did I get scammed on my widsheld?
All mine have had the 'non curing' sealant in them to prevent leaks, but I believe sealant wasn't always used. Plenty of people have used nothing as Mr Jones above has said with no problems. Oddly enough, whenever I have had a leak from a slick windshield, it has been in the same spot at the very to...

Re: Howdy from Kansas!
Welcome to the forum from the other side of the globe! Slick looks good, still fairly original. Creature comforts like a/c do help, we are just finishing summer here and every time I walk into my shed I see all the a/c components sitting in the shelf and ask myself why I haven't fitted it yet?!?! Yo...

Re: 65 Mercury 352
I like it!
Sorry can't help with the engine, whilst ours were built in Canada, I don't think we got v8's from the factory until later.
Probably a good idea removing the electric fuel pump, the wiring next to it looks a bit nasty. Fuel/dodgy wiring could be a sad end to a cool looking merc.

Good work, yes it does. Just a helpful hint, if you use the link that says 'img' it will insert the pic directly to the forum without having to click on the link and take you to photo bucket. This is from the photo bucket app on my phone but it's a similar display on the normal web brower version Ni...

^^^^^ Not a bad idea I guess. Although the light socket isn't too hard to grab from behind the dash and replace on the slick. A RHD mustang on the other hand.........

Thanks for the kind words all. The slick loved the tow! I originally didn't bother with this pic because it didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped, but I took it for the good folks here. Both steering wheels on the 'other' side. (Need to squint a bit for the slick!) http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h...

Glad you got it sorted. The simplest things are usually the easiest overlooked (Dont ask how I know!) Not sure about the resistor wire sorry, I have no experience from gen to alt, just alt to 3g!

Re: Gen light on after Alt swap
13.5 Sounds reasonable if it's a original style. Regulators are fairly cheap your side of the pond unless you want all the original decals on it. Worth maybe trying a different regulator? You'd have a spare if it turns out it wasn't tr regulator
