Re: '62 F100 SWB Step Side - yes another Crown Vic swap

So here's a few pictures....... I just about have the passenger side step and CV floor mated together.... https://photos.imageevent.com/zany/newbee/websize/IMG_0108.JPG https://photos.imageevent.com/zany/newbee/websize/IMG_0109.JPG Did a little mock up on the front fenders to figure out if my measur...

Re: '62 F100 SWB Step Side - yes another Crown Vic swap

Slight update: So I had a few hours last weekend to work on the flare side build, I still need to pull the cab back off the frame to make filler panels for the rear of the floor and the firewall, but while it is still on the CV frame I took the time to look at the cab step area. I had originally pla...

Re: '62 F100 Uni - yes another Crown Vic swap

There is something to be said for already having slight body paint issues everywhere... Not worrying about the finish is a big advantage.. plus the original survivor look is great looking as well... Agreed, in the case of the uni it's much more than "slight" as I've said before it looks l...

Re: '65 F100 SWB - yes another Crown Vic swap

(I had the time to write this up so I'm just going to post it now) Around a 6 month update..... lol So the wife's truck has in some ways been a PIA, nothing about the build, but mostly the LT1 engine....let me explain. So as I said in other posts the LT1 was a transition design for GM, it was a test...

Re: '62 F100 Uni - yes another Crown Vic swap

1 Year update...... So it's been a full year of daily driving the Uni, this build has turned out to be very reliable, stable, and just a ball to drive. We have had zero problems with the CV chassis/drive-train, I'm still chasing rattles that come and go that are basically just the 50+ year old body ...

Re: '62 F100 SWB Step Side - yes another Crown Vic swap

It's my first day back at work after vacation, just wanted to let everyone know that we did get the CV tore apart and the '62 cab and CV floor/firewall tacked together. over the last two weeks between all the other projects on our list. As soon as I get the pictures uploaded to the hosting site I'll...

Re: '62 F100 SWB Step Side - yes another Crown Vic swap

Jon Glad to see you have started on your CV tear down. The mods for the flareside bed should be a piece of cake for y'all based on what I have seen of your other builds. If I can tackle it, anyone can. I say go for it. Unfortunately my welder is in the shop so I am at a bit of a standstill. I'll po...

Still no more progress on the '62 flare side build....but. First I wanted to post the most recent video from " Rudy's Resurrection", this is really interesting and worth a view if you have a flare side that your considering a CV frame swap....take a look. 0tikwVRViDE With that in mind........

Well..... I did have a little shop time this weekend to bring the '09 CV in and start disassembling it, didn't make a lot of progress but did got a good start on removing the rear of the body. https://photos.imageevent.com/zany/newbee/websize/IMG_0016.JPG https://photos.imageevent.com/zany/newbee/we...

Re: '62 F100 SWB Step Side - yes another Crown Vic swap

Sounds like y'all are planning to use the cvpi hvac on your flareside build Yeah, after building two without AC I thought this build we should at least attempt to make the donor HVAC work in the truck. I am flattered that you find my videos useful enough to post them to this site. If it helps someo...

Re: '62 F100 SWB Step Side - yes another Crown Vic swap

Fred here from "Rudy's Resurrection". Hope you're back to 100%. The '62 cab is looking great. I think using the Vic floor and firewall is the right choice, especially when the condition of the floor/pillars/rockers are like ours are (or were) and you are doing it on a budget. I love your ...

Re: '62 F100 Uni - yes another Crown Vic swap

Project update: Just thought I'd make a post about the uni while I'm waiting for my turn at using the shop to tear down the '09 CV for the '62 flare side build....the wife has been knocking the work/jobs out one by one but the list keeps getting longer instead of shorter with every passing week, at ...

Re: '62 F100 SWB Step Side - yes another Crown Vic swap

After over a week of feeling like crap (I'm still not 100%) I found the time to finish stripping the rest of the paint off the back of the cab and roof, then shot etch primer on those areas. https://photos.imageevent.com/zany/newbee/websize/IMG_9946.JPG https://photos.imageevent.com/zany/newbee/webs...

Re: '62 F100 SWB Step Side - yes another Crown Vic swap

I'll start a thread on my project soon. I just thinned the harness down and put it back in the vic and it fired right up. Yeah, probably the scariest thing about doing the swap is the wiring harness, and even after thinning it it's still a lot of wire to find a place for behind the slicks dash but ...

Thanks for posting this thread... Do you have any updates? I just started tearing down a 08 Vic so I'm going to be going about the same route you - Rudy - and Scrape to Art are going. Looks like its going to be a lot of trial and error but if I don't need to make the errors I can be on the road fas...

You do good work, Jon. Looks great. That cab appears to have been religious...it was holey (lol...I couldn't help myself) Lol...yeah it was that! This truck had to be a state, city, or airport truck at one time in it's life ( I'm guessing) since it had a revolving light on the top of the cab and th...

Re: '62 F100 SWB Step Side - yes another Crown Vic swap

Hole repair (part 3) The dash..... The extra hole count in the dash after all the paint was removed turned out to be 19, well it was really 20 but I decided to leave one hole that was next to the radio opening...lol I used paint striper to remove the paint from the dash which took two coats, scrapin...
