Ah, another Mustang II mis-underatanding. A good Mustang II kit will have NO Mustang II/Pinto parts in it. The only thing Mustang II about the good kits is the GEOMETRY. It worked very well on the cars and works well on rods and trucks. That's why the kits still sell. You can upgrade to 11" rot...

I would think that Advance Auto sells brand new radiators that don't need rodding out. I replaced the clutch fan/no shroud with a standard 5 blade fan/shroud from a '74ish truck. The blades protrude farther forward then the flex fan blades and almost rub the inside of the shroud. I had to knock thin...

Any tach drive distributor should run the tach at the right speed. If you have a Y-block, use a Y-block tach drive dizzy.

What good is a tach that only goes up to 4000 rpm?

I would stay with the 390. Like has been stated, all factory mounts.

Plus you could later swap in a 428 (dressed like a 352 - what a sleeper!).

Sunday I put on a clutch fan I removed from a '76 400 in an F-150. I had to remove the shroud, which also came form a '73-'79 F-series. The '65/'66 radiators are mounted farther to the left and lower than the '73-'79 trucks so the fan wasn't centered in the opening and actually hit the shroud. It cl...

I'm running a ('73-'79) factory fan shroud and an aftermarket flex fan. The fan fits the shroud where it should, but is above and to the right of center in the opening. The factory clutch fan ('76 400) is going on this weekend. It's a larger diameter and won't clear the shroud. The '65/'66 radiators...

The mounts for 66 through 79 are the same. I bought a radiator for a '78 for my '66. I discovered this because I also own a '78.

I pulled an AOD out of an Econoline along with the 3.50 rear gears. So Ford puts a 3.50 behind an OD transmission (at least on this van) The engine needs to operate in it's power range - not below it - to get good mileage. My 1992 Mustang has an AOD and the engine runs about 2700 at 70 mph. That's w...

Running down the road it stays at 10 degrees above the 195 thermostat (mechanical gauge). I'm sure I paid special attention to the head gaskets when I built it. Sitting still it will get hot but when I start moving it cools quickly. I'm thinking the stock type water pump just might not be pumping fa...

I built a 1970 429 for my '78 back in 1987. I used the Edelbrock Performer (NOT RPM) and a Crane RV grind camshaft with a 600 CFM Holley. Casler headers fit the 73-79 chassis and might also fit the 61-64. I basically built an RV motor rather than a high speed motor. I drive the the truck from stopli...

Yes, the restrictor is in the block. It is a Cleveland thermostat. The radiator is for a 1978 400 motor. I have a shroud and a flex fan. I'm going to try the factory clutch fan. But the offset of the engine to the radiator changed from 1966 to 1967 and 1973. The shroud came from a 1973. The fan sits...

Did some tinkering on 66KIXX this weekend

Hey, I don't think I've started a thread here yet. I've replied to quite a few, though. 66KIXX has been pretty dependable since I rebuilt the 351C a few years ago (right after buying the truck!). I'm still chasing down an overheating problem, though. Anyway the starter finally gave up the ghost. Put...

I'm not set up to take paypal. It will just cut into the money available for Slick Stock 08. If you don't accept payments from credit cards you get all the money. Only accept PayPal that is funded from bank accounts. That's the basic PayPal account, like I have. I'll get a check out this week (if I...

To cut the glass out get a good utility knife and a can of WD40. Keep the blade lubricated. You can tell when it's dry. Cut from the inside starting at the top and going down the sides. Then you lift the glass up to remove it. I drove over 200 miles with a new windshield standing up in my bed agains...

Greg it actually was below the linkage ran right along side it, the exact same power steering ram you see in the picture above only it was basically right under drivers feet, gear box is above and in front of it That's right. If oil is sloshing away from the pickup in a left turn you don't have enough oil. Or the pickup has been bent towards the left side of the pan. It should be centered with 1/4" clearance to the bottom of the pan.
