Re: wheels for disc brake conversion?
Easy solution? Just go get a set of stock steelies from a van or pickup made with disc brakes out of a junkyard. The rim is different on disc brake wheels to clear the caliper - about the only difference. There in lies my dilemma. I'm wanting a wider wheel/tire on the rear. I could have a stock whe...

Re: wheels for disc brake conversion?
I know Kevin Stone has used '67 steel wheels with a disc conversion he did for a friend. This is a possibility. Glenn's truck is a 72 F100. I don't know if the wheels are different on the earlier models but his wheels are going to clear the brake calipers with about 1/4" clearance. We haven't ...

Re: wheels for disc brake conversion?
I only have discs up front and the factory Ford rims that were on the truck when I got it work. They are 15 x 6, 4" backspace with 225/70-15 tires. On the rear I have some aftermarket 15 x 8, 3.5" backspace that I found in a junk yard with 275/60-15 tires. With that much power, you're goi...

wheels for disc brake conversion?
I'm about ready to pull the trigger on the disc brake conversion on my '66. I'll be adding AIM beams up front with 28-29" tall tires. What width wheel did you use? What offset F&R did you use? I'm want to avoid any rubbing while turning. I know Kevin Stone has used '67 steel wheels with a d...

Re: What wheel offset???
Okay; let me rephrase my question. With a Ford truck disc conversion using '73-'79 F100 disc and spindles; what offset wheel do you run and tire size? Truck must be lowered 3" or more up front and use the original suspension design. I'm not sure if aftermarket beams are wider? I hope this clari...

Thanks. I did see the pics and it's a beauty! I just can't go by that with the Volare front.

Re: What wheel offset???
Well I guess my post has gone off track here. I'm looking for correct wheel offset for my '66 LWB dropped 4" in rear and 3" up front. I'd like to run 8" rims all the way around. I also have factory suspension front and rear. This makes a difference. My tire height will be around 28&qu...

Re: What wheel offset???
Chico and William; please e-mail me your truck pics. etb123@Q dot com. I inserted the word "dot" to prevent auto spammers from copying my address. There should be no spaces in the address and insert an actual dot or period. Do both of you have stock frontends using aftermarket beams?

Re: What wheel offset???
8 in front with 3.0 backset, 10 in back with 3.5 backset. Changing the rear tire is a bit of a struggle. Raise the wheel with an axle jack then raise the body with a hydraulic jack on the trailer hitch. Wheels do not rub but very little clearance in rear. Next set will be 8 inch all around with 3.5...

Re: What wheel offset???
I'm running 235/45/17 8" in front and 285/40/17 10" on back. I have a 4 1/2 backspace. I have no problems. Of course it is easy to remove rear wheels when the truck is on a lift. While doing it on the side of the road, It's a bit challenging but doable. Thanks for the reply? How low did y...

Thank you William! I think I may go 8" all the way around after reading your reply. Do you have any pics of your truck to help me out?

What wheel offset???
I'd like to run wider tires front and rear on my '66. It's lowered using stock suspension and switching to disc up front. From what I understand; I can run 8" wide up front without rubbing and 10" in the rear. I know some of you have already done this so wondering what offset you used. Tha...

Re: Has anyone used 2" drop shackles in rear?
I'd say I gained a bit over one inch with Airbaggit.com shackles. They make the AIM beams. I just drove it around. Not much settling.

Re: Has anyone used 2" drop shackles in rear?
hmmm, that sounds funny. are the hanger eye holes good and not wore out? mine sat perfect in the hanger. no side to side spring movement. Holes are fine but leafs are slightly twisted. I've seen this alot on the older Jeep Wranglers. The leafs slide around on each other. They may straighten out aft...
