So I got a bigger radiator. I followed Steve Park's advice and got a big universal radiator from Speedway Motors.
I welded in a piece of 2 inch angle to support it.

hood latch idea
A really long time ago Fred Martin mentioned that he had a 70's chevy truck hood latch in his truck with a bracket he made. They used the same latch in the Astro vans, so I have two of them out in my yard. I am really tempted to go with this, because I need some more room behind the latch, and the s...

Re: Dan's 1963 F100 split uni (slickstock notes)
I've done that door mod  Every trashed uni door with a good bodyline should be cut out and saved !!!!! Absolutely. I have two uni doors with the top cut completely off of them. I used one of them for the arch, and the other is being put aside. My whole truck is made of cut and paste panels. I ...

Re: Auto Darkening Welding Helmet Recommendations
I used to have to stick my head in small places to weld on flatbed trailers. My welding helmet was a piece of filter glass held in my left hand between the arc and my face. Good thing I don't have to do that crap anymore. I have been using a Harbor Freight helmet for the stuff I do around here, and ...

Re: White vinegar - miracle worker
I have used phosphoric acid for this as well. Just don't use muratic acid. It embeds chlorine atoms in the metal and causes rust later on.

Re: Front end options on a '61 uni
heard lots of good about the dakota front end. You can use full size truck rotors and keep the 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern. Never messed with it myself. I kept the straight axle in my 63, and just added disc brakes.

I doubt it. If it is like mine, it comes into the house on coax. How fast is it running on a speed test?

If his stall rating on the torque converter is higher than his cruise rpm, won't it slip like crazy? been a long time since I messed with a non-locking tc type auto transmission.

Re: Some PCV Valve Questions
I think you can still get them. I made one out of a piece of metal tubing with a bit of rubber on each end. I have all of the tubing benders for that type of stuff. I always cleaned my pcv valve on my old carburetor type vehicles with carb cleaner every year when I checked the settings and cleaned t...

This is a copy of my Facebook post on the subject. Rock of the Marne, John. Today is Memorial Day. Living in New Mexico has led me to realize that in a way, Memorial Day is a cousin to Dia De Los Muertos, or at least it is the closest thing we have to it. Some of those whom we honor on this day were...

door grafting. I cut the uni part out of a door and welded it into a standard door. The trick was using the keyhole to line up the pieces http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q696/copperclockmaker/13255996_10205928429119496_34160110889185569_n_zpsm0cx3ltj.jpg http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q696/...

Re: Carburetor Alternatives???
I am a fan of the YF. They can't be too bad of a carb if they were a stock carb on fords, chevrolets, jeeps, various AMC products, and military vehicles as well (they were the related YS series). It is an easy carb to tinker with, and has a metering rod that is controlled by throttle position as wel...
