annoying deal
sometimes work sometimes not
every time i find spare to investigate they seem to work then i will go somewhere and they will stop. :cussing:
brake light not affected.
going to get a new flasher and see if that helps. otherwise it could be in the switch itself.

i cheated

i took a hood bolt with the turned down end, wrapped a stainless tie wire around it and fed it thru the hole from the center oval cowl opening . after the nut was started on the bolt i pulled the wire and used vise grips on the nub end and tightened it down

only a purist would notice

Rob had the same issue with the 6cyl and clifford intake i used a cable from a late 80s ford truck. and i might have had to drill and cut the pedal arm end for the ball end of the cable( cut small opening for cable to fit thru to hole) when i was done it worked fine and the cable was 20 years newer ...

cab mounts and engine to trans are 7\16"
all engine to bell are coarse 7\16 -14
depending on year the cab could be coarse or fine
hood and door are 3\8" again depending on year could be fine or coarse, 65-66 are coarse
best look at the threads to be sure

Probably not what you want to hear, but I would be concerned about the rod itself! Good thing is that you caught it before major catastrophe! Maybe your engine builder is a practical joker, or just overlooked that extra old rod bolt in the pan! Wonder if the nut is in there? Paul yep if it has fall...
