Re: Bolting Up A 65/66 2WD Slick Cab To A 73-79 2WD Chassis
Did some on line reading and a phone call to the Texas DMV. So far there is no legal way around having to adopt the frame vin to the cab. To be continued....... You may want to dig a little deeper in the TDMV Motor Vehicle Title manual. They have "cleaned up" the process. Ford vehicles '3...

Other than the 25 grand that side step would worry me! Often that indicates a torque box not correctly repaired or removed.

Be careful on the Fordification frame swap info! It contradicts both Keith's Ford-sourced prints and those found in reputable frame manuals.

Re: Bolting Up A 65/66 2WD Slick Cab To A 73-79 2WD Chassis
As Tom stated; and it is getting tougher all the time! Luckily in Texas there is a mechanism in place but it's involved and you are likely to end up with a rebuilt title. Now back to the basics; despite what is posted on a normally reputable website; there are several misconceptions. The wheelbase IS...

Re: harder to find: 65 radiator or unicorn?
O' Reilly's parts house has a radiator for the bumpsides that has bolted on flanges, easily reversed for the '65 core. It's well under $200.00.

Be sure to do the relay mod. The old original headlamps were a maximum of 50 watts, most modern replacements are 55/60. this can overload the switch and integral circuit breaker under the best of conditions. Replacement harnesses are available from many sources, so shop around. There is a vast diffe...

Re: First Drive in over 2 years!
Rob, glad to hear it! As to the tumbler, if you haven't fixed it yet, and replacing with new cylinder, use said screwdriver to rotate switch fully counter-clockwise. Insert key in cylinder and rotate key to ACC position. Place the lock and key in the switch, depress a pin (straightened paper clip, e...

Well, regretfully, it looks as if Sue and I will be among the ever-growing list of the missing. I'm waiting until the last second to cancel reservations, but the reality is I will likely not be in shape to travel. I THOUGHT I had enough recovery time to make it, but found I had confused the pre-op d...

Hi, Jeff, I don't know if you are running power steering or not, but that Trans-dapt crossmember does not appear to maintain the factory engine offset. Skip, here locally also has a'63 FE flare; with that crossmember, he was hard against his steering box, to the point of overheating it. He worked ar...

Glad you got it! Your experiences can prove helpful to our members! That's how we all learn. As to the old one working, I suspect your winter thermostat was not the "fail-safe" design made to "fail open". The other logical possibility is that the winter heat load was maneageable ...

I was patiently waiting for someone to ask! Looks like a lot of work to end up with an immense rear overhang. My shortbed is trimmed as well, but only to accommodate the 38's!
