Re: My Mercury M100 & it's 262 transplant

Looking good!

For a log-style intake manifold with such sharp bends I wouldn't think there'd be much to be gained by porting, though I suppose some simple port matching wouldn't hurt.

Re: Need opinions on bench seat design

This is something I've been thinking about as well. I like that you have the blue top and bottom to tie in with the main colour of the cab, which should help keep things from looking too contrasty or busy. I voted #1 since I like that it's a little simpler. I also like the white piping against the b...

Re: Help a New Old guy: Removing 63 unibody off frame

Welcome aboard! Haven't gotten as far as removing the body from the frame so I'll be watching this one. Good luck! As for photo sizing, most here use a photo hosting site such as Photobucket, Flickr, or even Facebook to store images and simply post links. The primary reason is that you can only uplo...

Re: Dash paint color codes

Was it a separate option to get the two tone dash? My two tone truck has a single colour dash. I checked my VIN plate over the weekend and my trim code is listed as "02". Not sure how that might correlate to the U.S. built trucks or if that even has anything to do with the two-tone dash o...

Re: effect of altitude on specifications

I would think both would be below the published numbers. I know there's a rule of thumb for octane rating where you can reduce it x number of points per a certain increase in elevation. Found this regarding vacuum: NOTE: Vacuum readings will vary according to the altitude in different localities. Fr...

Re: Dash paint color codes

Was it a separate option to get the two tone dash? My two tone truck has a single colour dash. Sorry to hijack, someone who knows will chime in soon about the paint codes I'm sure. Nic Mine is a Custom Cab and has the two-tone dash as well, but the white on the lower part of the dash doesn't transi...

Re: 1966 Ford GT40 MK II

Agreed, to that demographic the Z would be considered iconic, and it is a nice example (most are pretty beat up by this point). Plenty of accessible "everyman" cars like the Mustang, Camaro, '57 Bel-Air, and Model T could accurately be called iconic, so I don't necessarily think that somet...

Re: wheel size opinions, all welcome...

I think what you have looks pretty well-proportioned, so I would probably try to stay as close to the current tire diameter as possible. A lot of it depends on your preferred aesthetic, how much you plan to lower it, and the previously mentioned intended usage. I agree with Toyz that the 215/60R16 w...

Re: Another Truck on E-bay I would stay away from

It is definitely confusing, especially if sellers are using the terms "title" and "registration" interchangeably. I do see on the green one you posted that the ad does specify "clear title", and that he also has a COE that comes with a Wisconsin title. Really not sure h...

^Same goes for Saskatchewan. I don't know how the Manitoba system works, but here's some info that might be helpful: https://www.mpi.mb.ca/en/Reg-and-Ins/Registration/Buying/Pages/vehicle_checklist.aspx The multiple accounts is a bit odd, so I see what you're getting at Tom. As far as getting a new ...

Re: 1962 front brake cylinder advice

It was ages ago now, but I picked up a set of '64 backing plates and cylinder cores from a member here to solve this very problem. I was under the impression that the backing plates were different but I could be wrong.

Re: Bucket seat ID??

I was wondering where those may have originated. I'd say you solved the mystery.

They do have potential, provided they're a good fit in terms of the thickness of the back. The chrome trim is a nice detail.

Re: 1962 9" brakes - no adjustment lever

Some of the early slicks used a single action cylinder; same effect, hydraulic pressure forced both shoes against the secondary side of the upper pin, aided by inertia. Paul Were the single action cylinders used on the rear as well? I haven't torn into the rear brakes on my '62 but I do know that t...

1962-63

^Is that question for me? If so, I don't have any info on trim and colour codes at this time. I do know the Canadian codes are different, but my 1961 manual only lists U.S. colours. My truck's plate lists "RW" to indicate red/white two-tone, for instance. Here's the latest addition, courte...

Hey Bruce, engine code NR would indicate a 292 V8. The N prefix indicates 1961. See the VIN decode link in my signature for more info. :)

Re: The Blue Truck Saga

Something you may want to consider is weight distribution. Placing saddle tanks ahead of the axle or a fuel cell just behind the cab might be preferable to putting a big tank behind the axle. It may not be a big deal but might be something worth investigating. Kind of depends on what you intend to t...

Re: The Blue Truck Saga

I don't have an answer for you regarding the standard number of crossmembers, but that does look like a lot. I wonder if the one immediately rearward of the shackle mount is factory, or could that have been added as an extra point to mount the hitch? A boxed frame rail will definitely be stiffer in ...
