Re: carb - boiling gas - diagnosis

I haven’t seen a fuel filter in the system. Did these engines have one originally?

Re: carb - boiling gas - diagnosis

On the way back home it started idling rough and I thought it was going to die again. I pulled over and popped the hood while still running. No gas coming out of the carb like last time. I banged around on the carb some more to no real effect. Got back in and gave it a little gas and all of the sudd...

carb - boiling gas - diagnosis

Was driving to lunch and the truck started surging, then died. I popped the hood and saw this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1X3Vnfe3Fzb1an7RNa_QBIxpmOxuk46NH/view?usp=sharing - [VIDEO] I let it sit until it stopped leaking gas and then banged on the carb with a screwdriver handle. It cranked up a...

Thanks much. I've never worked on front drums. Only rear.

You have to take the bearings off to get the drum off? I thought it was the other way around. I'm just trying to check the shoes and wheel cylinder.

front drum removal

I tried for an hour to remove the front drum from the drivers side of my 1965 f-100 2wd. The rear drums fell off with a couple of hammer taps.

Is there something I'm missing about the front drums compared to the back, or did I just not use the right curse words?

source of door leak

I recently replaced the driver's side door weatherstripping, but still have two wet spots on the door frame when it rains: http://dave.sobr.org/enc/1507063180.376_015161a820e390903804d1f1f62a9f003789b993a0.jpg http://dave.sobr.org/enc/1507063180.376_01afe8d1e1d00df89c39977c12711471f3156db4b8.jpg The...

Do you have a part number or a link to a suitable electronic flasher that would work? Just want to make sure I get the right thing. Thanks!

Re: first post: brake light diagnosis?

Well, all is now fully functional. We removed all 4 bulbs and inspected them. One bulb had a blown filament and another looked fine but showed no continuity on the multimeter. Also, they were of 3 different types (2 were 1157, one was 1034 and another was 1154). So I looked up the proper type in the...

Re: first post: brake light diagnosis?

Making it to the weekend so I can have time to dig in and diagnose this problem, but new behavior today. Turn signals now flash rapidly with no audible clicking. Just posting this for completeness sake. :-)

Re: first post: brake light diagnosis?

Return to bulb you checked, remove lense, wiggle bulb, your turn signals should now work. You're a genius. The bulb works after a jiggle. But, now when I enable the right turn signal the rear right bulb blinks but the front right bulb doesn't blink. And when I enable the left turn signal the front ...

There doesn't appear to be anything connected to the condenser, and I don't see it on the wiring diagram. Probably a left-over from something? This used to be a military truck.

Re: first post: brake light diagnosis?

the switch output is NOT a ground, rather it is the power wire feeding the brake lamp circuit of the turn signal switch. Last night before giving up I put the black side of the multimeter to the frame and the red side to each of the brake pressure switch wires in turn. I got zero voltage on both wi...
