Re: Rods 63 UNI long bed ProStreet
Well it's been a while but we got some more done to the truck. Inner fenders trimmed and cab supports drilled. Every thing is lining up real good. Painted the transmission so we can marry it up to the engine and begin setting that up. Probably start that tomorrow. After that its time to mock up the ...

I would be completely helpless without my blast cabinet. What a time saver and things come out so much nicer.

Re: The AMAZING Offshore Tool Discussion
I bought one of their 220 volt wire feed welders a couple of years ago and for what I use it for it has done very well. I agree with all the comments in that I wouldn't use too many of their tools to make a living with but for home shop use they are a fairly decent value. It would be good if a few A...

Re: Carb Talk
Go and get a 500 CFM Holley 2 barrel carb and your in business. Last one I bought was at O Rileys for $239.00 woke the engine right up. Of course I am a Holley fan and if you don't want to go to the trouble and expense of an intake and 4 Barrel carb and all that goes with the swap this is a real goo...

Re: Rods 63 UNI long bed ProStreet
Ok got some more done today. The frame and body are joined for now. Looks like its all going to fit like its supposed to. The new cab supports fit good so all is good. We are going to hang the core support and fenders so I can check the inner fenders and do the cutouts for the upper control arms. ht...

Re: Rods 63 UNI long bed ProStreet
We're ready to bring the frame in but it is about 15 miles away at Rob's house and it is raining so I don't want to get it wet with wet road crud that makes a mess to clean up. So sometime in the next day or 2 we'll get it here and the body on it. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc195/3Oldtrucks/...

Re: Rods 63 UNI long bed ProStreet
Ok I got the passenger side tacked up and tacked in place. Need to do a couple of minor things and then we can bring the frame up and put them together and see what happens. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc195/3Oldtrucks/Rods%20Pro%20Street%20UNI%20Build/th_DSCN1986.jpg http://i214.photobucket....

Re: Rods 63 UNI long bed ProStreet
Made a little more progress today. Got the final pattern made for the drivers side cab support and the pieces cut out, de-burred and bend lines slotted. I'll bend them and tack everything together tomorrow. As soon as Rob gets in off of this run we will bring the frame up and begin fitting it all to...

Engine Mounts
Ok guys I just aquired a 1979 F 150 4 X 4 that some one attempted to put a 390 into. They gave up on the project and I wondered why. Well it's pretty simple, the last year for an FE engine in a ford truck is 1976. (I knew that) lame.gif, anyway I need a set of FE engine perches for a 73 to 76 F 150 ...

Re: Rods 63 UNI long bed ProStreet
Got the passenger side cab mount fabricated and temporarly installed. here are some more pictures. Used the Plasma cutter to cut out the pieces. It is made of 14 gauge so without a brake I had to cut reliefs along the bend lines to be able to make good bends. I'll turn the truck over tomorrow and be...

Re: Rods 63 UNI long bed ProStreet
Got a bit more done to the floorboards. Started making patterns for the cab supports. I'm using a members diamentions and finding that I need to make a few adjustments for this application. None the less they are going to work out really good. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc195/3Oldtrucks/Rods...

My guess is the holes are for stress relief from the forming process. That looks like an area where a lot of the metal goes during the Stamping process. I have some experence in that trade. Just a thought.

On top of all that a Bronco enters the mix. Which one do I want to play with today. My nemisis now is a Honda Big Red. Good thing the weather is mostly crappy right now or we would be hard to find. I hear your situation Cooter. I am retired and sometimes wonder how I ever had time to hold down a ful...

Go to your local welding supply and get the gas kit for your welder. I did that for my 110 welder and it costs way less than a new welder, it is really easy to install and you will really like welding with the gas shield.

BarnieTrk This is always a topic of many "opinions", that being said, I tow a lot and "my" experience is that I will use a Load Distribution Hitch almost all the time even when the trailer is empty. These hitches don't fully correct "sway" as that is usually a problem c...
