Re: I'm hoping to SOON make some changes on my 64 s/b

WOW.......Look at how much time has gone by. I honestly thought I would have my truck in the finishing stages by now but nobody knew what this virus was going to bring. My truck broke last October and in my pea brain I’m thinking I’ll have it going in a couple of weeks. WRONG....3 months later I fin...

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

I like stories like this but it was the Falcon that got me. It's a TWIN to the one I had. In 1966 I had just purchased a 1956 Ford 2 door hardtop, mint green and white. This was a beautiful, great running car, just needing a rear main seal in the old Y-block to stop an oil leak. I paid $16.00 for it...

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

I've seen the same thing with my brother-n-law with his 55 chevy. He purchased a rear end for it, that was close but NOT good enough. With it already installed, a year later when he lowered the body down on the frame (a body with all new quarters, floors, rockers, and such) It was SO close on the re...

Re: I'm hoping to SOON make some changes on my 64 s/b

Your tree frog surprise made me laugh cause it brought back lots of memories of times things like that have happened to me or a buddy when we've been laying under a dash or an old car!! I'm sure it will happen to me again and it does scare the poop out of you, but hopefully nobody is a witness. You...

Re: I'm hoping to SOON make some changes on my 64 s/b

I had a Tarp on my truck because the windshield had been leaking. I finally got a few minutes of free time (kind of unheard of around here) so I pulled the tarp off to start taking the bolts out of my bed to get it out of the way. All of a sudden something landed on my hand and nearly scared the PO...

Re: Straight Sixin' '63

Well I adjusted my brakes today for the first time since I got the truck. Surprisingly everything was still pretty good. The wife and I are closing on a house next month and the truck has to be ready to go because it’s gunna get loaded down. New house has a two car garage so I’ll be able to comfort...

Re: Pertronix Install Problems

Years ago i had a Physics teacher at Duke University who wanted me to do all the work & repairs to his 66, and one request was to install the Pertronix unit for quick & easy starting. I did it and he was loving the performance it providing in the quick starts. About a year later it failed hi...

Re: Door Window Anti-Rattle Kit

Just don't stretch them as you go. Make sure all holes in the vent rubbers line up with all holes in the metal track they fit in. I've seen people stretch them as they go, then cut off the 1 1/2 that is sticking out past the end of the metal track. Later when they find out the holes don't line up, ...

Re: Windshield gaskets?

Most of the time it's not the rubber that causes a windshield to leak. It's the installer, most don't like to use the sealer anymore because it's so messy. A soft NEW rubber is going to seal, but 6-8 months down the road when it starts to shrink THAT'S when it will start leaking. I'd make it mandat...

Re: Disabling your truck

Had a 64 L/B years ago and took the wire for the coil from the ignition switch, and placed it on the low speed terminal of the heater switch (when I need heat I just run it on high) To start the truck you had to turn the heater to the LOW speed position, then start the truck. Of course when you want...

Re: Windshield gaskets?

In 38 years I’ve only used Carpenter‘s windshield rubbers and have never had a problem. At a time when most suppliers or sending everything to China to be made, I do know that Carpenter is still making his in house, in Concord North Carolina. They are sold by Carpenter, Flashback, Carolina Classics,...

Re: Door Window Anti-Rattle Kit

I wouldn't use one from Vintique. The last ones I saw, the anti-rattlers (pieces where you would lay your arm on if the window was down) weren't made anywhere close to right.

Either that's an easy installation, or you're just making it look easy. I don't think I've seen this particular setup before...interesting.

I'll surely keep watching.......

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

I wish I could go, but I'm still broke down. Been busy with other important things, plus too hot to work on my truck right now. Also doing the F-100 Supernationals in Seveirville Tn. the weekend of Sept. 24-26 anyway. Then maybe I'll get it fixed. Also looking forward to a few days to spend at Ameri...
