Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

I just shared these pics on another thread...thought that I would share them here. The year was early '90's and I found the '66 F-100 in a local field. The owners dad had used it on a farm and I bought it for $1000. It was light yellow, rusty, and had a huge dent in the driver's side. In less than ...

Re: Grand National F100 show in May 2021

Jeff...I would love to go. I went back in the early '90's (that seems like a looong time ago, lol) and it was great. I drove a '66 F-100 that I had restored to it. I always have a scheduling conflict in May that prevents me from going. This year might be different. But I will not go if I have to wal...

Re: BlackTruck Build 65

That looks great! It does take quite a bit of 'tweaking' to get the steering wheel in just the right place in these old trucks. I like the look of the original steering column...and a 15" steering wheel will give you more room too.

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

I have "another" project going on right now...I can't post about it because the "new owner" doesn't know about it...yet. It's a surprise. I'll post updates when I can. My truck is on the back burner due to this "mystery project." Weather has been bad and the roads are s...

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

I sure hope the pumpkin works out for you. It was a pleasure to meet y'all again! Yes! I enjoyed out "parking lot" visit...I am anticipating installing the pumpkin within the next week or so. The pinion seal should be here today. I've recently gotten another (unanticipated) "project&...

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

Thanks again to Doug who supplied me with a 3.10 chunk for my 9" rear. I'm waiting for a pinion seal, get it installed and see how it drives.

04sd wrote:Looks good. How is the steering wheel with the horn ring so close to it?
We've got over half a foot of snow so far and maybe another foot to come.
For the most part the steering wheel and horn work well. We have more ice than anything...just received an inch of snow on top of that.

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

Well...I finalized the drivers seat and it sits just as I want. Now the problem is the steering wheel. At least in my opinion, and I am the one that will be driving. It seems too close. I think that I have the seat mounted a few inches higher than the other buckets. So....I took the bracket that ho...

Thanks! I'm still "tweaking" them. The passenger seat sits perfect, but somehow I have the drivers seat an inch to high on one side. I drove it yesterday and it didn't fell right. I kept sliding toward the door....lol.

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

I began with the passenger seat. Sat it in to establish proper height and get it level before building mounting brackets. https://i.postimg.cc/pdGm6hKM/New-Seat-Install-12-12-20-4.jpg Cut and welded up some brackets for the seat https://i.postimg.cc/HnZpdxwD/New-Seat-Install-8-1.jpg Then I added the...

It was advertised as the back seat from an Envoy or Trailblazer. It is the perfect width for my '64.

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

Seats are purchased. Spending the first part of the week at my daughter and son-in-laws home. Will be home later this week and hoping to get these installed. It is a 60-40 split type bench/bucket seat the exact same width as the buckets that are in there already. Stay tuned..... (Also...seats for s...
