Re: 65 4x4 Daily Driver Upgrade

Rewiring project complete. Managed to get it all done with only two wires reversed. Test lamp and switching the pins in the connector fixed that. Mr. Jones, I pulled the master cylinder off the booster, and the rod was not adjusted out like it should have been. Used a set of calipers to measure and ...

The Modern Ride

I drive a 2003 Mazda Protege for commuting. Had great service from a 1994, 330k miles and it drove away when the next guy took ownership. I went to start it yesterday and smoked the alternator belt. In no time it burned right through the belt. Culprit was the alternator, bearings froze up. As luck w...

Re: 65 4x4 Daily Driver Upgrade

Mr. Jones,

I have not checked the booster rod length.

I will measure and adjust and test drive once I get the electrical done.

Thank you for the suggestion and pics from the manual!

Started work on the rewire project. Some pictures. Pulled the gauge cluster. Re: 65 4x4 Daily Driver Upgrade

Don, I've changed jobs, driving less to get to work, but still leaving in the morning when dark, and home after dark in evenings with the shorter days we are having now. I have not worked on the brakes any more. I've saved quite a bit of vacation time and will have a good amount of time to devote to...

Re: another issue with the homeowners associations

Yep, you pay tax just to have someone down the street further restrict your life.

We may be moving at some point over the next few years, I've already said it more than once, I will not live where there is a homeowner's association.

Where has common sense gone.... I guess its not to common anymore.

I thought about the name brand product Ospho. Phosphoric acid? Maybe flush the system with the garden hose till you get it pretty clear, then add a gallon of opsho? A google search says this about acids affects on copper: "Strong acids include nitric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid and p...

65 to 66 Accelerator Pedal

Hey everyone, I tried searching and saw a few posts, talking about the 65 gas pedal and the 66 pedal. I'd like to swap out my hinged pedal assembly for the 66 assembly. Other than the pedal mount being different(floor vs suspended), does the remainder of the assembly bolt in the same place, cable th...

Re: New member, planning to start 63 Unibody, 2001 P71 CV sw

Welcome. Nice looking truck and car. Looking forward to following your progress. Not familiar with the computer system in the police interceptors, but have heard over the years that the performance chip is removed before sale to public. Is there any truth to that? Is there a removable chip? Just cur...

Re: 65 4x4 Daily Driver Upgrade

Been working long hours the last couple of days, outer bands of hurricane here now. I just went out and cranked the engine, vacuum is 19.5" if the dash gauge is reading correctly. Push down on brake pedal, reading does not change. Let off the pedal, it momentarily drops to 18.5", then back...

Re: 65 4x4 Daily Driver Upgrade

Before teardown, brakes stopped the truck, but there were issues. Swapped out the 9" that was in the truck for a Dana 44 rear from a 77 F100 2wd. Brake shoes on the 9" were worn badly, not sure they were engaging? The factory cast iron proportioning valve was frozen and I don't think fluid...

Re: 65 4x4 Daily Driver Upgrade

Bill, The brake pedal feels a little spongy. When going down the road and hard on the pedal, it just seems slow to stop. Yesterday, I tightened the rear adjusters all the way tight, then backed off till then wheel turned and no shoes dragging. Test drive was the same result. The last time we bled th...

Re: 65 4x4 Daily Driver Upgrade

Thank you sir. I'm just glad the Saginaw conversion was 98℅ bolt on with Ford brackets. I did have to hack-n-weld the adjustment bracket on the backside of the pump to keep it from dragging on the return port, as this pump is a little different than the Econoline pump. I had my wife turn the wheels ...

Re: 65 4x4 Daily Driver Upgrade

Time passes in the blink of an eye. I've not driven the truck on the road over the last year. Brakes are not the way they need to be for safe driving. There is an intermittent issue with the horn, it blows when it wants to, but not every time I push the horn ring. I installed a remanufactured power ...

Re: what is this spring?

Seems like my truck had one that looked like that attached to the z bar to keep the clutch pedal/linkage at the fully engaged position. One end on the z bar, the other on the frame toward front of truck.
