The M5OD uses a slave/release bearing combination as you mentioned.
The trans you mentioned is also referred to as an SROD. Has pretty wide ratio spacing.

Re: 1988 5 speed in a 1965 ??
I understand, like I said I'm removing this stuff anyway. I just gave you first shot since you brought it up. Drive shaft isn't much of an issue, driveshaft shop can fix one for you in a couple hours. Transmission, when going for parts like this I usually try to pull them from a vehicle that appear...

Re: 1988 5 speed in a 1965 ??
The M5OD is a nice piece for a daily driver, nice smooth shifting transmission with a shifter that is appropriate for a truck. Actually bigger Slicks often came with a hydraulic clutch so it's not much of a change. The hydraulic clutch has the advantage of being self adjusting too. It's actually le...

Re: 1988 5 speed in a 1965 ??
Clutch master cylinder option. Yes, it's a stock single brake master cylinder, with the stock reinforcement plate. It almost just bolts in. I'll actually be removing this setup from my 64 since I now have an AOD to install in it. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn38/GregDvsn/1964%20F%20250/clutc...

Re: "What does the Fox say?"
It won't take long to spruce up the Mustang enough for now. I'm going to get after the 64 very shortly - Mustang should be done by next weekend. I'll give the Mustang a nice paint job after the 64 is done, touchup will hold it fine till then. The problem I had with the 79 was I kept having visions ...

Comparison between the stock straight axle integrated steering box and the Toyota PS box?
I need to know if it get me any more header clearance.
Thanks.
Yep, it's nice enough to get back at the 64!

"What does the Fox say?"
"Let's go Topless!" Traded my 79 F 150 - straight trade. One reason is, with 2 trucks to do, NEITHER of them was ever going to get done - 1 had to go and it wasn't going to be the 64. I pretty much haven't touched the 64 since I got the 79, I work on it instead. The AOD I bought for the 7...

New under bed fuel tanks.
Made by No Limit Engineering - 17 and 21 gallon.
These look like a really nice piece, no they aren't cheap but it's not a stamped stock tank either.

Re: 302/5.0 Recommendations
Toyz is right, you'll have a much easier time finding a roller cam 5.0 in GOOD condition in an Explorer or Mountaineer. The roller cam engine makes quite a bit more torque so better suited to these trucks. Most carbed 302s are very weak engines. They showed up pretty much at the beginning of the sm...

I read alot and it's plane building season.
I'll be around a bit more when truck building weather comes back.

I missed that before Steve.
I find it odd they don't do 1 piece bumpers there.
I used to send steel rollers for printing presses there to be copper plated.
