gas leak

Post by Casey 65 »

Hey Guys, need some help. the gas fitting on my carb is seeping again. I've tightened it several times and it's seeping again. (gas dripping on the manifold) I'm afraid I'll strip the threads in the carb if I keep tightening it. is there a sealant I can use on this application?

Can't say as I've used this stuff on a gas line, and I'm not sure of its resistance to gasoline..

If it is a Holley carb you can get a new gasket for the inlet adapter to fuel bowl at any parts store.

If it is leaking between the steel fuel line and the inlet adapter you will most likely need to re-flare the steel line and replace the inlet adapter.

These are cheap and easy repairs, don't mess around.

Gerry -- what carb you running? I have lots of YF and some 1101 parts. I have a fiber washer that I used to stop a similar leak with my 1101 that had loose threads.

PM or email me if you want to come over and troubleshoot/swap some parts on this weekend.
