My '65 is almost finished
My '65 is almost finished
What started out as a pretty rough truck is starting to look kind of cool. I found this truck on Ebay last year. It's a '65 F-100 on a '73 Torino chassis with a decent running 351C in it. The price was right and the thing had some potential so I bought it.
Here's how it arrived at the house:
I put an AOD in it and changed the hood. Then added some new wheels. Put a few thousand miles on it like this, but was tired of the lack of a bed the truck had.
After making new frame sections in the back and installing a '65 Mustang gas tank I started rebuilding the bed floor. With the purchase of a '66 F-100 for parts, it started to donate pieces of it's bed. It took both to make one decent bed.
After media blasting the thing I could really see what I had to work with. The truck was in pretty damn good shape.
Here's where I'm at today. Just need to have someone install the glass and redo the hood. I thought that the '64 trim holes would work with '65-'66 side trim but I was wrong.
The color is '64 Chantilly Beige and I used PPG DBC basecoat only. No clear on this thing. My brother has a '64 Fairlane this color so I thought it would be cool if both vehicles matched. Although his is nice and shiny the bastard....
I've really missed driving this thing and can't wait to get it on the road again. If you know any good glass guys on the south side of Atlanta let me know. Once the windows are back in the miles are going to start racking up.

Pretty damn nice for a cracker
I graduated from High School in Albany, Ga. so I'm entitled to dish out a little peach cobbler smack now and then.
Great job. Way cool.

You can fix road rash when you don't have the clearcoat.

Nice job! It's funny how some things just flow together. I don't really like a lowered truck, but this all just fits. It screams 1950!!
Nice!
Nice!

Gorgeous!!!
God I wish I could do metal fab and paint.
We had an awesome paint and body program at the local Vo-Tech back in the day. But no, mom said "go to college." Great, I got a liberal arts degree, no useful skills, and have to pay somebody else $3k minimum to paint my ride!!
