I put the final steering components in the 65 Crew Cab this weekend and came across a problem, I think.
It has brand new dream beams, discs, etc. Everything is new under the front end. When I tried to adjust the steering to get it "eye-ball" close to aligned, I could not shorten the adjuster sleeve enough to get the tires even close to parallel. The tires are toed in a good inch.
I assume either the dream beams brought the spindle center to center width in, or my the combination of drag link and tie rods is somehow wrong.
Anybody else run across this problem before? Any ideas? My next thought is to shorten the tie rod threaded ends if the beams are the problem.

From what I've heard the "DREAM" beams are the issue.

That's a bummer Rich, I had no trouble at all with mine in fact it ran down the road even better than before. what beams did you end up getting?

Re: dream beams, steering issue??
i bought chassis tech beams they were built heavier than the orginal beams and i just bolted them on and they were very close, maybe a 1/2" off.. i ended up selling them to a buddy, cause i decided to go all stock.. but i would recommend them i think the company is called airbaggit.com
Re: dream beams, steering issue??
Alan,
I used DJM beams. Besides the steering issue, I am pleased with the fit and finish.
I'm probably going to go ahead and cut about 3/4" of threads off the tie rod ends and be done with it.

You seriously think these cast beams are superior to the oem ones?
The original I-beams where drop forged from some really tough steel.
If it cain't be fixed with a sledge hammer it must be an electrical problem!

THE ONES I BOUGHT ARE VERY HEAVEY, BUT WHATEVER I DIDNT SAY IT TO START A DEBATE.. I THOUGHT THEY WERE VERY GOOD QUALITY.. WAS JUST GIVING MY OPINION..
